Here I take an in depth look at the LEE classic loader. The loader is a good way to begin reloading, try different load options out, or casually reload without spending a lot of money. I think they are a fantastic option and highly recommend them!! They can be found on Midway USA among other places!

Awesome gifts! I have a press but I still use my Lee loaders all the time. I have one coming Friday in 45-70. You might not want to use that styrofoam cup for powder though due to a static charge. Glad you like them brother. Happy reloading and Happy New Year👍🏻🇺🇸

Forty bucks for kit. 45 bucks pound of powder. 12 bucks for leaf of 100 primers, get once fired brass at gun range either for free or about 20 bucks for 200 pieces of pistol, thirty five bucks for 100 projectiles

I used to reload .303 British back in the 70's. These loaders would be especially good for the more obscure calibers that are expensive and/or hard to find.

I don't know if it's different between types of cartridge.. But I believe the Lee Loader for my 270 says to resize the case, use the rod to remove the case, THEN use the "removal rod" to tap in the primer. a lot less whacking on a primer that way. Not priming and sizing at the same time. Also to note...I have mine and supplies at my bugout location. It was a cheap way to say "If I need to make ammo, I can"

I believe you are correct sir, I explained the method to my madness at 12:20 in the video. It saves me a step and I’m not really worried about it going off, call me crazy! Lol. Sounds like a great idea for a second location, wish they made more of these! Thanks brother!

I might be wrong but it looked like your brass case was not all the way into the resizing die. I think you should do that with your mallet first before repriming and not at the same time.

I have the 9mm kit & I love it. I've loaded butt loads of 9 w/it. Using a bit of improvisation & creativity, I've also been able to use the same kit to reload 380 & 38S&W. That 38S&W is an expensive little cartridge that can be tough to find & since the only firearm I have chambered in it is an old Colt Police Positive, it works out perfect. I don't need to spend a lot of money just to plink around with Grandpa's old service revolver. Great video, thanks for sharing 👍

Interesting thing is that Lee still makes a carbide die set for the 38 S&W. I have a top break pistol in this caliber and it can be a challenge to find components, including brass. leeprecision.com/3-die-carbide-38-s-w.html

I've always wanted one of those for 357 Magnum. If I'm lucky enough maybe my chamber in my Rossi 92 and my 686+ cylinder are similar enough that I wouldn't have to keep up with which brass is what. My New Year's Resolution for about the last 3 years is to start Reloading. That looks like a great way to start. Good tip from Georgia Boy 44. He is a good man for sure👍🇺🇸

They are pretty fun, and it’s nice not to have to configure all the settings of a press. The brass I’m using came from a friend and I’ve only fired a couple rounds but they worked fine in my gun, the sizer on these particular kits seems almost full length so I think you’d be good. Reloading is a great time to flip on videos and catch up while getting something done at the same time! Georgiaboy titled his “a vid for willie bulletman”. There is a link at the end of the video. 😄👍🏻

I use one of these kits to reload .38sp & .357mag for my Rossi 92. The rounds chamber perfectly. I also use one for .223 and the older style kits for 20g & 12g Shotshell. Using these kits is like practicing the art of the Zen for Reloading - not fast, but very cheap and very satisfying.

Mate you can't shortcut on the case seizing you have to drive it the whole way in. And the way you doing it with a primer already in the seating pit looks rather scary. Powder in a polystyrene cap? not a good idea too because of static electricity, you can already tell by the way the powder sticks to the inner cup wall. Flying Sparks ain't no good in this environment.

I own a couple different Lee Loader sets. I have had very good luck with reloading handgun ammunition (.45 colt, .357 and such). I have found reloading rifle cartridges (7.62x54r) with a Lee Loader to be a little more challenging but it can be done.

I don't have any need for more than 50 or 100 rounds at a time. So was a no brainer to buy one of these and stop trying to decide on a press to buy. No cost, setup, mounting or other hassles of a bench loader just to save money on 357 to shoot out of my revolver. I'd rather work hands on anyway and take some pride in the rounds, than sit on a stool pumping a handle like a robot. At current gouged ammo prices it'll pay for itself after loading about 90 rounds.

30 bucks for a lee loader…Don’t get me wrong I love them, but you also need about $200 worth the components before you even get started. lol. I have a bunch of the loaders they’re fun to screw around with but 99.9% of my stuff is done on the press so it’s precise. The loaders are good for a bug out kit or if you’re out in the middle of nowhere and need to make some shells you’re in.

Doing something you have never done before evidently made you leave out some important reloading steps Those steps being I noticed you deprime the cases and go right to installing primers and sizing the case for reloading but never use a caliper or trim the cases to the case trim length nor do you test OAL What you will find out real soon is OAL does make a big difference in a revolver if the cylinder will not turn because the bullets are hitting the forcing cone of if you do a rifle round like that it is possible to blow up a case from riding on the lands and same for a revolver it will split open cases left and right from being too long in the cylinder chamber I had the same Lee loader when I started many years ago for the 357 which also loads 38 special and 38 short colt but I did also invest in a caliper as I knew case trim length and OAL are the most important steps of reloading Now if I remember right Lee had case trimmer tools that would fit in a drill to make case trimming go real fast and I had mine chucked in my drill press and I still have mine but use a table top trimmer now days that adapts to all case sizes which makes that easier
@TheMagnumChannel
@TheMagnumChannel 5 жыл бұрын
Hey there, you’re not wrong, but I have been reloading a few years and have never trimmed cases. I heard from an old timer once that it wasn’t really necessary for straight walled pistol cases and I have had a few split but it hasn’t been a major issue for me? The OAL is important for sure... I do need to get a caliper, but I checked the OAL with my cylinder, haha. Thanks for watching!

In my 40+ years I’ve never trimmed handgun cartridges. Maybe the high pressure (.460/.454/.500/etc) would benefit. Rifle is a different story.
@RayBlackburn
@RayBlackburn 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheMagnumChannel Once the trim length is just right what you will find is OAL length usually falls right in place when crimped on the cannelure of the bullet on the straight wall case rounds like the 357 The really weird part of that is a lot of cannelure bullets seem to always seat too deep or deeper than the recommended OAL when it comes to rifle bullets for instance I have not found one yet I can crimp on the cannelure as then they would be too short for the chambers of both of my rifles and lose a lot of accuracy which is where OAL length is important to find the most accurate loads In short think of case trim length and OAL as the most important steps of reloading right behind looking to make sure the charge is right before you seat a bullet I always do the step of trimming the cases before I even put in a primer and in the end press the bullet a little at a time testing with a caliper to get the perfect OAL I know will fit with no problems This is how precise I have to be as if I get an OAL of 2.81 it will not fit the magazine of my 7mm-08 and has to be 2.80 or smaller so all of a sudden .01 of an inch will make it where I cannot even use that bullet not only that it may not even chamber except for very tightly as it would put the bullet jammed into the rifling At 2.80 I am .005 of an inch away from the rifling to give you an ideal so add .01 of an inch and it will not even chamber that round
@RayBlackburn
@RayBlackburn 5 жыл бұрын
@@miketreen7403People that tell me stuff like that are just telling me they have no clue about how to reload safely and could care less about their own life High pressure loads and even low pressure loads will stretch a case every time it is fired and someone that does not know that has no clue what they are doing and should not reload at all until they do get a clue It will stretch even that 357 case so long it will no longer fit into a cylinder so it will have to be trimmed or it will not fit with a reload and if it is crammed in anyway you're talking about a bad mistake ready to happen They even show pictures of what happens to careless people who do not follow the instructions in all of the reloading books most of the time showing how revolvers got blown up from careless or what I call clueless reloading With a normal length 357 case it is impossible to shoot it even once and have a correct trim length and reload it again and fire it then the case will be so long if reloaded without trimming again you are talking about a Darwin Award waiting for you for sure Regardless with my over 40 years experience in precision reloading if you do not trim your cases they will only last about 1/4 as long as ones you did trim before that split open and not only that an oversized case can take even the strongest revolver and blow the cylinder up in your face The choice is yours of using four times more cases because you do not trim with a chance of being killed with your own firearm for being clueless or trim and make cases last four times longer and I always pick the latter as it is much more safe to have specs the way they are suppose to be instead of just guessing at what will work then after blowing the gun up in your face realizing guessing does not work real good in the reloading game
