Excellent! I hand load 300 magnums up here in Alaska, typically use 4831 powder and 180-200 gr bullets. I found improved concentricity of the necks when I removed the expander ball/decapper pin from my sizing die and use an expander mandrel instead. I deprime first using the Lee Universal Decapping die. Since the 1990s, I have not had problems with case bulge, so do not use the Larry Willis die.

I'm quite spoiled when it comes to the room I have, you really have a compact space there, however, putting things back where they belong keeping everything in its place is the key. .300 Winchester Mag is one of the favorite calibers among hunters here that go after the largest game in North America. I really don't have the desire to hunt anymore as it has become very expensive to do with all the fees and licenses attached to it here. However, if getting the job done is what you are after, the .300 Win mag is a good choice. - Nice reloading video. Btw, "Johnny's Reloading Bench" channel demonstrated that resizing die also, I forget what he was reloading for, however, it is a good idea to have one to make your brass uniform and extend the life of the brass. -Dave

Nice explanation. I'm about to start reloading my .300 WinMag having reloaded .44 and .308 previously. Like the use of the drill too. Noted! Edit: also nice to see a fellow UK shooter on KZfaq for a change.

I’m looking at getting into reloading and watching you and your set up is inspiring. Nothing fancy, gets the job done and is effective. Its amazing you’re hitting targets out to 2 miles. I shoot a savage 111 trophy hunter in .300 wm and absolutely love the stopping power and fast kill power of the round on deer and elk here in Utah. Also I’m happy to see an Englishman talk about shooting. Do you have a list of all the equipment you have for loading the .300 WM. Also any books you recommend that helped you learn? Thanks again Mike!

Hi buddy Sorry it has taken this long to get back to you. At the min I'm so busy with work its unreal. I'm selling up most of my guns now as they aren't getting the use. I want to keep the win mag and 223 and a shotgun and probably my 22. It's getting harder to shoot in the UK now. And before long above 30 cal will be no band. I never used to read many books. Its all been through trial and error and lots of testing. I have many reloading books but use them only for a min max powder charge which I enevitabl change to suit my gun. Out of all my guns the win mag is my favourite by far. It out shoots and out performs anything I have in my armory.

Good video mate. I just bought the same Willis die for my 7RM. Wouldn't it be better to run the willis die first then FL. My thoughts behing that are then you could FL with .002 shoulder bump. Would make brass last much longer and reduce head stretching. Im none the wiser as havent used the Willis die yet. What's your thoughts and thanks for sharing.

My cases jump .004 thousands the way shown in the video which is next to nothing. I find the primer pockets widen first before any other signs. When there is not much tension when seating the primer i usually pop it back out and discard the brass.

So confused on what y'all are allowed to own in the UK...was looking on your channel and saw thumbnails for AK and 50 cal shooting vids lol! Awesome...how many hoops ya jump through to own those over there? I have an AK here in the US but not a 50 BMG lol...good for you man!

Hey brother. The ak is a single shot single feed thats all we are allowed. Sick I no but that's the law. I have a 50 but am 1 of very few now. Most have given it up. I don't use mine much as there is only one place I can use it which is 6 hours away so I keep it locked up. I don't think this will change as the UK hate 50 cal. Thank you for your message and I hope your safe and well.

Wow! I thought I was cramped in my 12’x 8’ load room. I load for 300wm and 338wm and I’ve never had problems with a case not chambering because of swelling in front of the belt. Primer pockets normally go first. I’ve never used a belted magnum beyond 5 shots and that’s with 0.002” shoulder bump. I normally have to trim 0.005-0.009” after every FL sizing so that’s a lot of brass being removed from the body. I’d almost bet brass on a belted magnum is too thin to use before you actually have a round that won’t chamber do to that bulge in front of the belt.
@mikebagnallshooting9818
@mikebagnallshooting9818 Жыл бұрын
I full size mine every time and the bulge is where the die can't pass the belt. So that really useful tool evens everything out its a great bit of kit. My cases last over 10 reloads easy after that tool. I am pushing 212 eldxs out of them too so heavy loads but every part of the case is inspected before the first stage seating the primer. If you look on other videos I do there is definitely a bulge above the belt and all perfect when they go through the Larry willis die 👌
@chadyoak1633
@chadyoak1633 Жыл бұрын
@@mikebagnallshooting9818 oh I agree there’s a bulge. I just don’t know that it’s necessary to get rid of the bulge for it to chamber properly. Maybe in a custom built rifle like yours it is. I’m sure yours has a tighter corner then my factory built rifle. Are you able to get 10 shots without annealing? The current brass I’m working with now is on the 5th shot and I’m considering how long they’ll last.

@@mikebagnallshooting9818 are you still having trouble getting 212 grain ELD-X’s?
@mikebagnallshooting9818
@mikebagnallshooting9818 Жыл бұрын
I got boxs of them as I bought them a few years ago as a batch. You don't need to go through all the efforts I do but but I like uniform and by squishing in the bulge it gives me confidence that my rounds are the same. It took me 8 months of building my 300 win mag of nights after work and when finally finished I developed a load that works for me out to 2000 yards so I go with what I got. I have never tried another size bullet in this rifle because the 212 eldx for me don't miss. And the size and length of my barrel make it nearly recoiless. Bare in mind this is just my way of many variations. It's what works for you. I absolutely love the 300 win mag

Depending on how bad they are usually a wipe on the case will do and the neck gets a brush inside before lube then resized and sonic cleaned, dried reloaded and so on.
