From the moment I first saw the original Bowsette comic and then especially the Koopeach art from the unused Super Mario Odyssey concept, I was taken WAY back to around 2004 when a buddy and I came up with a family for Bowser: Bowser, the Koopa King, of course Bowselia, the Koopa Queen Bowsina, the teenaged daughter (IDENTICAL to the SMO concept) Bowser Jr., the prince Bowsie, Junior's twin sister Beeezer (yes, three E's), the infant son

The Internet’s version of the Super Crown having the ability to transform anyone and anything into a cute, charismatic princess waifu was extremely chaotic and overwhelming in terms of fan art, but I would be lying to myself if I said that it wasn’t fun at the same time. I also jumped on the Super Crown bandwagon myself and tried to come up with my own gijinka designs with it. It posed as a very good opportunity to draw human forms for an artist who usually doesn’t draw humans nor human-like forms all that much like myself. Even to this day, I still think about using the Super Crown as inspiration again so I can come up with something cute and Princess-y. I’d rather compare the Super Crown to the Golden Apple of Discord from that one mythological story involving Eris, the goddess of chaos. Nintendo threw that crown in their community and it caused so much chaos as a result.

The existence of Bowsette is a reminder that the Super Crown is the most OP'd power up in the Mario universe, and its effects are cursed. No matter how much you tried to escape from the cursed artifact, it turned everyone and everything into a princess.

I think what makes Bowsette so popular is the beautiful idea factor of it. The idea of a species' princess is hard to not imagine. Admittedly, there are those who don't like Peachette (and NSMBU DX in general), but to see such creativity is appreciated. Also, Nintendo makes a wise choice in staying away from the matter. Meme acknowledging companies are more likely to not know the meme in particular, and banking on it isn't always a good idea. Remember Morbius.

Disturbing internet phenomenon aside, can we talk about how much the Super Crown ruins the game if you're playing as anyone other than Toadette? Pick Mario or Luigi and you're shit out of luck if you win one in a minigame. It's just dead weight to be discarded due to the limited item inventory.

Due to 1 person being forced into easy mode NSMBU is better on Wii U than Switch. And in NSLU 2 players are forced into easy mode. Also because of the gamepad you can sorta have 5 players.

Honestly, Bowsette is exactly what Nintendo deserved for adding such a terrible power up to make some bland generic port "worthy" of $60. And I say this as a peachette fan (I like the design and character, just wish she was a seperate character from Toadette and Peach, like Kinoppe from the Mario Manga)

Fun story, there used to a lot of “Bowsette Voice Acted” reels on youtube. They all kind of sounded like Anime dominatrix’s, including double entendre’s like “let me set my teeth in you…” This is not really what bowser talks like? So I asked my older sister to growl in the microphone like Kenny James. I lost the files but it was a fun memory.

3:12 I think the comic was Mario and Bowser trying to make Peach jealous that a new mysterious princess appeared in town so she'd come crawling back... But then the internet had a ball with it as it seemed more of just Mario and Bowser simply being desperate for affection, and not specifically Peach's affection, and it became peak comedy.

Kit and Krysta, former hosts of Nintendo Minute, have talked about Bowsette several times since going independant. Like many other internet trends, there was talks within the marketing department to acknowledge Bowsette in some way, but every proposal was immediately shot down due to fear of Nintendo being directly affiliated with NSFW content.

ngl, genuinely surprised you didn’t elaborate on how this crown expanded beyond _Mario_ characters. After all, the _Mario_ series is so ubiquitous that if you’re a _Mario_ fan, you’re definitely not _Mario_ exclusive. Personally I’ve always loved the different takes on a Princess K. Rool but I heard that _Ridley and Ganondorf_ got the treatment at some point, too?? One of my favorite Super Crown crossovers was a tumblr post saying: “If Samus got the Super Crown, nothing would change, because she’s already an absolute queen.”

I was around for Razor Scooters, but Bowsette is the first time in my life where I can recall as living through a fad. Fortunately, it was a fun fad and even though I haven't seen a Bowsette in w while, it's only dawning on me now that it's over.

Nintendo: No. The Super Crown is a Power-Up only useable by Toadette. Me, An Intellectual: But What about extending the Powers of the Super Crown to ALL Female and specifically Female Creatures of the Mushroom Kingdom? Such as Princess Bow, Koopie Koo, and Vivian? Because what little irl hasn't ever thought about becoming a Princess at one point in their life? It would only be fair to make it a girl exclusive Power rather than have it be used by just One Girl.

Okay, so, when this was catching the Internet's attention five years ago I had a good chuckle like everyone else, but then I remember seeing in old Nintendo concepts that Nintendo wanted a sort of "Anti-Peach", if you will, similar to how Mario and Luigi have Wario and Waluigi and I thought, "Well damn, there's their Evil Princess design right there." Honestly, if Nintendo ever wanted to pull the trigger on that idea I still think it would work.
