Perot was too decent for a dirty business like politics.

Really? I remember watching him as a kid coming on stage during the presidential debates in bathtub on wheels filled with money and a bunch of hoochies in bikinis pushing him around.

And campaign finance reform. Look at the corporate government we have now-it's shameful.

I think Bill Clinton did bad on NAFTA however he certainly did wipe off the debt. We had a surplus of $200 Billlion under Clinton, Ross Perot and Bill Clinton knew that debt is an important issue...

Not to be mean but a large amount of people don't take the opinion of a Californian seriously. A large sum of people who use to live in California are moving to Texas. Perot does deserve credit at least since he did as good as he did with the things going against him.

I think Ross Perot would've made it if he had chosen a different VP. I mean do you remember the VP debates Jim Stockdale kept nodding off while the debates were raging on between him, Al Gore, and Dan Quale.
@darksideofthemoon4885 жыл бұрын
@kappelmeister123 I'm not disputing Stockdale's credentials, however it doesn't change the fact of what he did during the VP debates. When people are watching the VP debates, I would imagine the American people would want to know who they are potentially going to vote for and creating an image is very important just like attending a job interview as image and presentation matters.
@franckj.3 жыл бұрын
@@darksideofthemoon488 Stockdale's bad performance is also mainly on Perot. The campaign hung him out to dry, as he received no preparation for the debate. He had never even discussed policy with Perot before. In fact, Stockdale wasn't suppose to run, his name was mainly used as a placeholder in order to get Perot on the ballot in all fifty states months before the election. He was supposed to step down in order to let a more experienced politician take his place, but because Perot suspended his campaign in the summer, before getting back in, they never took the time to find a replacement for the VP slot.

I believe the most successful third party presidential candidates in American history may have run in 1860. Four parties managed to carry states.

A great man. He should have been elected. He was a breath of fresh air at the time, a lot like Trump is today. If the presidency had been turned over to a businessman back then we would not be trillions in debt. He would have been a game changer for sure like was stated in another comment. RIP Ross.

Andrew Yang is the Ross Perot of 2019. Yang is a businessman running for president warning of the automating away of jobs and mass unemployment that is about to happen. Like Perot, he uses charts, data, statistics, and PowerPoint in his rallies.

So let me get this straight. When people that were very famous is the past such as the 90s or 2000s or earlier pass away, people in general are more likely to respect the dead. And when people die while they were very famous or peaked their fame in the present are more likely to have backlash and lack of respect. I am an in my early 20s and don't remember him much but is it a generational or has to do with time or something? I just want to know.
