I love this photo of this lady that is first to appear after the horsemen. The pearls, which have a shimmer to them that suggests they are actual pearls, seem remarkably out of place. I'm glad everyone is entitled something that will allow them a feeling of pride, and dignity, when perhaps, the world seems stacked against them in an effort to rob them of any pride. My mother taught 4th grade at Long Island school for about 20 years, from 1955 until the school was closed. I, several times, went to her classroom for a day when the City Schools were out, but the county schools were doing snow day make-ups. I enjoyed making friends with the students in her classes. Well done Earl.

I'm proud to say I grew up in Long Island. The family's that lived there loved one another. It was a tight nit community that always looked out for their neighbors. My grandparents Luther and Blanch Dykes house can be seen in the photo of kids on the swing set along with my Aunt Betty Owen's house and beside her was my parents home Red and Hazel Dykes.
