His long-running television show was a launching pad for musicians (notably Selena) and had a familiar presence in the homes of many Tejanos, including J.B. Sauceda’s. The host of Texas Country Reporter wrote a tribute for Texas Monthly, and sat down in the studio to reflect on Canales’s lasting impact.

Same here! I lost my dad last year and this reminds me of all the fonds memories of watching all three shows in my parents’ bedroom.
