augh this made me cry. i have not cried to Regret Message since,,,,,, maybe the third time i listened to it?? i really love your lyrics, and the way you worded Riliane's grief. Particularly, the part about how Allen was "Lost to an ending he never had to meet" really hit hard. In all the english covers i've seen for Regret Message, i suppose this is the first one i've seen that highlights Riliane's feelings about his sacrifice. actually i will talk more about Allen's sacrifice because the novel i'm reading right now raises a lot of really cool points about sacrifice. sacrificing your own life for the sake of someone else is usually depicted as a noble-but-tragic thing to do. however, in this instance, Allen sacrificed his life for a tyrant and war criminal. Riliane is evil. she's scum. she's absolutely disgusting, and she knows this. she knows that the people who died because of her will never come back. she can never be forgiven, and yet someone still loves her enough to die in her place. Allen was just carrying out her orders. *she* was the evil one, and yet someone chose to die for her. she made him kill his father, and he chose to die for her. she asked him to carry out the Green Hunting for her, and he chose to die for her. Riliane is evil, and Evil should be punished. he didn't deserve to die in her place, and she doesn't deserve to live on like nothing happened.
