I have a 550-1. According to the dating code on the barrel. It was made in Nov. of 1956. I've had a scope on it from time to time. At 50 yards. The holes will touch or very close. At 75 yards They will drop about a 2.5". Open up to about 1.5" I have several 22 rifles. Only my browning SR 22 Can get close to the 550-1's group at 50 yards. Very accurate rifle to be close to 70 years old. It also never jams, No FTF, or FTE. Naturally, there is a dud or severely underpowered round now and then. Not the guns fault. If the round fires it will 100% eject the casing, chamber the next round! The only drawn back to the 550-1. Is the floating chamber gets dirty quickly. I have found a way to partially disassembled it. Remove it from the barrel. So underneath it can be cleaned and oil. Maybe every 400-500 rounds. Awesome rifle!!

I always close my eyes tightly before I fire any gun .

I was gave one of these and it was a tack driver , I gave it to a young boy in a family that did not have a lot of money , and he has thinned out the squirrels with it.

And as far as I know this is the only 22 rifle I have ever seen shoot any 22 bullet made automatic,,shorts then a long then a long rifle and it will shoot them all.

Mr obvious tell him to properly clean this rifle you take the chamber out ,,it floats ,,,,ha ha hard to understand but it works and is not attached to the gun.
