Correct title should be you paid $600 for a gun that's worse quality than a $400 savage
@kingwiththeax6880
@kingwiththeax6880 2 ай бұрын
Why would quality have to go down? Weatherby Vanguard and Howa didn’t go down. They kept their quality and prices rose according to inflation. So did Savage. Remington lost their place, for all time, to Bergara, which makes a better Remington 700, at inflation prices, than Remington does now, or even 20 years ago. If you argue against that, it proves you do not own a B-14 or a m700… from any era!
@sterlingduck5402
@sterlingduck5402 2 ай бұрын
@kingwiththeax6880 Exactly. I purchased a Rem 700 last October. Thought it was worth the $800 I paid. I wasn't expecting $1500 quality. Got home, put the bolt in, ran the action a few times. Went to take the bolt out to mount the base and punch the barrel. The bolt stop was broke! Just wiggled around in the trigger guard. Had the rifle less then 6 hours. Next day returned it to the dealer. The rifle wasn't fixed and sent back until April 18! 6 months! For a bolt stop. Luckily my dealer was willing to work with me, and I got a different brand that I've now been shooting since December. The dealer called me to see if I wanted first dibs on buying the fixed rifle. Nope, should never need to wait 6 months for a broken bolt release. The die hard Remington fan boys can make excuses and insult others. Doesn't change the fact Remington isn't the company they were, and in the all the price categories are way behind most current makers.

I've been currently tweaking the trigger on my deer rifle. I bought a 1903 Springfield for $110 after ffl and taxes. Cabela's fucked up and had it marked for $75. someone sportarized it in the 60s. I threw a timney trigger in it. Last I brought it to my gunshop we weighed it between 1.5lbs and 1.9. it was difficult to get an accurate reading, there's no take up. It just breaks. one of the times it broke at 0.94 but we chalked it up to an error. It doesn't need to be drop safe if you don't drop it right? Lol.

@@cristopperhamilton-gl6jb Every rifle doesn't fit the stock exactly the same. Glass bedding is a layer of epoxy between the stock and metal that fills in any gaps and makes a perfect fit. The recoil lug of most rifles sits down in the stock and it's a pretty loose fit. Google it. They call it glass bedding because it used to be done with fiberglass. No reason to buy Rem 700 now. By the time you pay $600 for the action, $200 for the trigger and $500 to square it you already have enough money to just buy an $1100 custom action. I bought a Curtis Axiom, WTO Switch lug and barrel from MPA for $1475. That’s a steal for what I got. $1100 action, $135 lug and a $600 barrel that should be $750. The switch lug is amazing. You unscrew the set screw, unthread the barrel by hand, screw on a different caliber barrel hand tight, torque the set screw on the lug to 30 inch pounds and you’re back in business. Takes about 3 minutes!

Every new remington 700 I've owned and currently owned I've been able to get to shoot under moa. I sand out the contact pads at end of stock, open barrel channel a little bit. Then bed only the recoil lug. I've never needed to do the whole action just the recoil lug. And I add 4 wraps of electrical tape on barrel at end of stock during the bedding to achieve a nice float. If it has a new x mark pro trigger that actually adjust down then I adjust to 2.5lbs if not I order s timney and set at 2.5. Some of the x mark pros adjust nicely some don't hardly move at all. Then I work up a load it likes and they consistently shoot sub moa. Not that much work for a solid action and barrel. But yet they were once a much more solid rifle from factory. We just have to make up for minor things they have left out to save money.

I have a 2010s era Remington Model 700 Varmint, it’s the #6 contour barrel .308 and it shoots wonderfully, just the trigger is so heavy. It is a good rifle, but I’ve also played with a 2019 production one and it sucked, though it was an ADL. I’d say that the rifles were sub-par, but I see at least the newer ADLs are better than the one I had in 2019, I need to play with the newer ones

My rifle started out like this. I the best way to fix the stock is as follows: Step 1. Remove stock Step 2. Throw stock away Step 3. Purchase aftermarket stock But in all seriousness I was able to build out a “semi-custom” rifle for a fraction of the cost of a true custom and it is a tack driver. The x-mark pro trigger as pictured here gets a lot of bad reviews but with some tinkering I was able to get mine to a very good hunting weight and still be safe. Eventually I will swap out the factory barrel but for now it is accurate and I see no need to spend the money. I spent extra money to turn mine into a BDL but that’s not necessary and if I had to do it again I might not.
