The 66 is the 1st gun purchased with my own money as a young teenager in 1960 or 61. I put countless thousands of rounds through it. During the 9 years I was away from the farm in college & service in the Peace Corps and US Army, my 4 brothers put a brick of ammo through it nearly every week. No malfunctions ever & works as well today as when new. Thanks for the review!

I have the chrome plated black Apache model, given to me by my girlfriend waaay back when I was a teenager in 1961.( That rifle was a helluva gift back then ) It is a great rifle, and like the other owners have said, I too, cannot ever remember having any failures with the Nylon 66. Today I still take it out for some target shooting once in a while. It will fire just about any .22 LR round you care to load it with. The styling was way ahead of it's time in my opinion.

In the 80's I bought the inventory of a long defunct Gun store in a small town in Northern California. The only gun I kept was a Beautiful Black Remington Nylon ''77'', the Magazine version of the Nylon ''66''. It was a great small game rifle and scoped it was unbeatable for a .22 cal. It was my 1st choice over my Ruger 10-22's for hunting. Magazine changes were much quicker than my 10-22's with that difficult [For me] mag release.

It's easy to make speed loading tubes for tube fed rifles. Make them less than a full load so they can be pocket size. A .22 lr is about 1 inch long and a 6 shot tube with caps would make a speed loader no more than 7 inches long. Easy to carry 3 or 4 of these in a shirt pocket. Just a suggestion.
@russellkeeling97122 жыл бұрын
I used to have one of these years ago and wish I still did. This rifle with its rear tube feed would absolutely not jam. The ads for the nylon series of firearms was a vehicle running over it and still being unbroken. I could never get mine to be accurate with a scope. It seemed the scope would always move after sight in. It was probably my scope and not the firearm. The front blade sight was the same as the Remington model 600 of the same time period.

I bought a 66 brand new when I was a teen. I will say it would not jam, I tried many ways to jam it and don't believe it could be done. The problem I had was, the barrel was not attached to the receiver, it was held against the receiver clamp and a screw thru the bottom side of the stock. You could sight it in and lead it against a wall and it would be 4" off target the next day. Direct sun light would change it also. I kept it a few years a gave it away. At the time I thought it to be a pc of junk.
