REMODELED KITCHEN ORGANIZE W/ ME! + brutally honest 2 week follow-up 😬 (Real life mess + clutter!)
Today, we are tackling this beast of an organizing job- our newly-remodeled kitchen! I like to take a very honest approach to my organization which usually results in a non-pinterest-worthy space that functions and feels right to me!

Thank you for the most realistic organization video I have seen on KZfaq. 1. You revisit it after you have organized. 2. It's not overly decanted. You only decant what makes since to decant. 3. You went grocery shopping first so it's actually full. I haven't even finished the video yet and I'm thrilled.

My favorite kitchen organization change we ever made was putting our spices in a drawer!! And my mom had the idea to put sticky dots on the tops of the jars to write the names on. I love that I don't have to dig through multiple jars to reach what I want! In our previous rental, we actually used two drawers, one on top of the other: one was shallow and we used it for the tiny jars of less used spices, and one was deep and we put regular size jars and extra-large jars in it.

I had to laugh when you mentioned having to go with the flow on what your kids are actually eating that week. My nearly 4 year old has recently taken to saying "I've changed my life" when she decides she doesn't/does like something that she used to not like/like. Kids keep life interesting 😂

I started using old fashion glass canning jars ( the ones with separate glass lids) After the ant invasion of 1987! my mom and I found them at a flea market. So I have always decanted "things that come in boxes" as well as bulk items. I do notice that I like things to look simple visually. I also use my space better when I can create conformity. I think the key thing is to know yourself, your needs and your kitchen's limitations. Thanks for always being real and most enjoyable. You do it all so well!!!!

For hard brown sugar, just throw in a piece of bread. It restores rock hard brown sugar to a soft, fluffy texture! Yes, flour and sugar need containers -- they were never meant to be left in their paper packaging. But I leave spices in their original jars -- I can see which brand I bought (there are sometimes differences), plus I can date them. Plus, you can completely finish one before opening another -- more freshness. Also, those "cute" jars usually are larger/wider than the original bottles, so you can't fit as many in. (You will need them, tho, for bulk spices.) I'm all about function, too. Awesome storage!

Great video! I’m with you, decant what makes sense. Sometimes decanting actually ends up taking more space because the container doesn’t hold the whole package of the food item and then you have to store the extra, too. My solution for trash bag storage is to store the roll on the bottom of the trash bin so the full bag gets removed and then we can replace it immediately.

I don’t love my kitchen and I’m always re-organizing and decluttering to make room for everything. My pantry gets re-arranged after every shopping trip because of how limited our shelf space is. One day I’d love to have a larger pantry for everything, including my bulk items. Love your organization ❤️

I am vertically challenged as well, and always struggled with the spices being up high and always falling out of the high cabinet, so I gave up and put them in my utensils drawer next to the stove. They sell tiered organizers for drawers too. Best decision if you need another solution! No more rummaging for spices!

In our last home, we had a narrow spice cabinet that none of the tiered organizers fit, so we improvised and I used leftover wood pieces from a shelf project to get a custom fit.
