It's crazy how FPV is so related to skating, rap, graffiti, break dancing, etc. The people who need to speak up about FPV are those who haave had a positive effect on their lives, which is probably 85% of the entire community. I can't speak for all Veterans with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and so on and so on, but FPV as a hobby as well as in the community has helped me find peace within myself at times, the greatest therapy ever. Mass production of videos expressing just how FPV has helped them, I feel would get the attention of those not familiar with FPV before the FAA starts to put fake ass information in their heads.

The RID doesn't even make sense for long range because and airplane still cant see that signal like an ADSB transponder. This whole thing is only going to lead to a bunch of people getting harassed for playing with toys, and perhaps a fuggin $2500 fine from the FAA if some cop decides to push through some paperwork. The other thing I can see happening is fly fields shutting down because they weren't granted a FRIA.

The way I love FPV is flying fast 5’-10’ off the ground. Under tree level, doing hot laps around my house. The fact they want to monitor me is stupid. The fact they it’s currently breaking FAA regs when it’s out of line of sight on the backside of my house is asinine.

People should not comply until the signal is not available to the general public. This remote ID is unconstitutional via our 4th amendment. I think this will invite complete stranger confrontation. I believe this is a violation of basic safety. Until this is resolved I will resist compliance, period.

Seems to me they could just require a standardized radio transmission protocol that has your remote ID number in the transmission. It could be encoded right in the crsf or elrs telemetry packet that comes back from the receiver. Then no extra hardware would be needed and if the drone was X size or bigger the gps packet would also be returned. This portion would be broadcast unencrypted. elrs and crsf receivers already have easy interfaces that could be modified to allow the user to enter their id info. They could still get their registration $ when you buy your id.

I cant wait to see the FPV park when its set up, I'm from the South and rural areas so I just wanted to add to your comment about the rural areas. Pennsylvania might be a little different but for most of us we can all get along as long as one party doesnt force their views on the other party, ya know? I doubt many people will come after you for anything unless you push your views on them, so I doubt you'll have any issues. It goes both ways, and ofcourse there will be bad eggs, ignore them, but I think you'll be fine. Regarding the part about shooting guns, I have a similar set up with no issues.

Cops / local PD's are missing the oppourtunity to rebuild there image w the public. These situations are almost guaranteed to be filmed by the pilot. A few "good" interactions could go along way! (the remote ID is the tool that will have the data that will be cited against u by the faa)

The equivalent of a license plate on a drone would be a sticker with a serial number. Which is essentially what they were asking for when I first started flying. Register your drone, and get a serial number to put on it. If that was the case, then a police officer could just check your sticker to make sure you were following the rules or whatever and then leave you alone. If you crash your quad on someones property then the serial number would be on it. That doesn't happen though, or it doesn't happen to the point that it's a legitimate concern. I wonder if someones plan is to spoof fake ID's everywhere? That would be awesome. Just flood the air with random signals. Is that possible?

I'm a long range guy. I fear possibly having a fly-away event every time. I'm in agreement with being required RemoteID for long range, if that means there's no 250g limit as long as you're in LOS. With all that in mind, though, I also admit this is the era of the civilian not being heard. Gerrymandering (in general) FCC vs net neutrality Supreme Court vs roe vs wade and now FAA vs RemoteID Our voice isn't heard... the voice of the money-makers/lobbyists is.

30:00 GetFPV gets to Columbus OH about 1 day quicker than RDQ. I've learned that so far lol. I use mainly those two or whoever has things in stock as well.

And what about the term "unmanned" flight/ aircraft.... if someone is operating it, it is being controlled by a person, now if it was totally auto flying as to where it takes off and flies its flight plan without a human being in active control of it, then it should be considered "unmanned"... as like the drones the delivery systems will be using, load up the container, pop in the coordinates and push the start button... no one controlling it, fully automatic.

September 16th is NOW a National DRONE holiday!!! EVERYONE go out and fly all day. And fly HARD!!!

I am sill doing 250-gram helicopter FPV since 2017. I don't think FAA can touch me.

Maybe find a nice hidden spot where you can land a decent distance from where you are standing. If LE rolls up on you, you land it and say oh crap, I crashed my 200 gram drone. I'll have to go look for that thing. Then no one can weigh it. Maybe a switch on an AUX switch that literally shuts off all power to the drone too so it stops transmitting so no one can find it with a radio direction finder. Just a thought. I dont' condone any of that.

Amazon delivery won't be at the moment just because it's not profitable. They want to make place for that manned drone taxis, Mary Poppins style. They really look like flying bicycles. That's the most important for them and won't need any type of license or registration. How crazy is that? A toy needs registration to fly in the backyard, but a manned drone taxi can go free like a bird. I don't expect to wait long for the first accidents. Security?? Money!

This podcast got me curious about the European drone rules. As of 1st of January 2024 remote id will be required for most drones, except selfbuild drones/RC stuff that has no automatic flight modes. No VLOS means spotter. Selfbuild drones above 250grams cant fly

Why can ultralights fly and record video and take arial photos and sell them for profit with out any license of any kind and a "drone pilot" has to have an faa 107?

I havent gone through the whole podcast. But initially it shows how hobbyists are willing to compromise for the sake of safety. Because I agree if you are sending a wing or large drone km away,bvlos, then rid kinda makes sense. Is it necessary? No. Can I see it being helpful for manned craft, yes.
