I’ve always said that the western world overly romanticizes living on an uninhabited island… like it’s vacation mode. When in actual fact, without services + other people, it’s a lot of hard work to undertake. You need to be motivated + fit to provide for yourself each day. Good for you. Perhaps you can save and make life easier by covering your roof with fiberglass or some other sea salt proof material, put in some guttering, build a stand, install a tank and let your water flow by gravity , providing water to your house.

So enjoying your vids, magical mango harvesting 💚and that boat trip, through the mangroves is stunning! My partner spent a lot of time in Borneo in the Jungle with local people and he dreams of this kind of life style again 🙏✌🌿

Can I suggest you keep livestock like Chicken, Sheep or lamb or maybe cow so that you have endless supply of meat and eggs and goat milk. Self-sustaining and sell them to the villagers when you have surplus. Plant ubi kayu, or Kailan surrounding your house for vegetables. Plant rambutan and durian or langsat for fruits etc

When I was little we udes to put food that needed to keep cool in the whell where we toke our water too. And we have ground cellar for veggies, pickles ets to store in chill

Hello both just wanted to say what a life humbling decision you have chosen an I'm in ore of what you are doing. It would be a dream of mine to live in the Mentawais but as much of a lovely thought it can be the reality of how difficult it is is very scary. I visit the mentawai islands most years since 2009 to surf, the last several years I stay at mentawai surf camp owned by Lora and Diego & family. Me and my partner Emily are travelling back there next week 11th October for 2 weeks. Good luck with everything

Found you guys randomly through the algorithm. Fascinating lifestyle ans congratulations. Curious however, how does it work for medical emergencies? You are both very active, surf, there are poisonous snakes etc. How fast can you see a doctor?

We got stuck in those Mangroves and had to push the boat the last 1km as tide dropped

adding cotton to your water before freezing will give you longer lasting ice blocks!

Wooow, I admire you a lot! What do you do if your boat breaks down on the way to shopping? It seems that you travel a long distance to "civilization". Thanks for the answer, I wish you success in everything you do!
