cool stuff thanks a bunch Tom I have been playing around with openstack on top of xcp-ng creating vm's and switches and using wireshark to anylize the packs , this will defiantly be useful thanks again, have a great one, and keep smiling :-)

Piping thru ssh is too much of a faff for me, I also run wireshark on windows. My solution, compile rpcapd on a freebsd box and copy the binary onto my pfsense host, quite a lot easier when you want to use. Does cut performance though on my under powered SBC from 1ghz to just over 500Mbits, so it's something to run only when needed.
