👋🏻 ABOUT ALEX and DEPIQD 👋🏻
Alex is a certified DaVinci Resolve trainer and video producer with a mission to simplify and reduce the learning curve of producing fantastic video content. Alex has been in filmmaking for over 14 years and, in 2016, set up his company, Depiqd (said Dee-PikT), which initially focused on traditional video production.
Now, whilst Depiqd still offers video production services to our clients today, the focus is on reaching and helping as many people as possible to get started using video and make the process of learning enjoyable, stress-free and efficient without it costing a fortune.
Whether you have personal or business-driven goals, video is so powerful and can reach people in many ways that other forms of media can. However, it can be laborious, complicated, and expensive, and it takes a long time to become proficient, so often, people give up far too soon.
If that sound's familiar, hopefully, the videos on this channel will help you. Please consider subscribing and turning on notifications, so you don't miss new videos as they get released.

What do we think of this feature then?? Voice Isolation is definitely a winner in my book. If you enjoyed this video and you haven’t already seen it, my 18.1 reaction video might be up your street - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7BpmZZ0xLTdYoE.html

Hi Alex, you mentioned this feature was present in other apps. Is there a free ap we can try this feature on which you can suggest? Thanks.

@@aytunch that’s a great question as I didn’t make it clear. So I was mainly referring to FCPX that has a similar feature. That’s obviously Mac only and a paid for app. I’m honesty, I’m not sure how good other free apps that claim to have this are. I’ve recently come across Veed.io which has a noise reduction type affect but I haven’t tried it yet. They have a free tier I believe but, again, haven’t tried it myself. If I do try any that are worthwhile then I’ll certainly comment back here. In the meantime, let us know if you find one.

You’re so welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting. Great to know it’s helped you. Great feature isn’t it. I’m literally about to start the piece I use in the demo and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve found the best results are actually if you turn it down a little so you get a bit of ambient noise and the effects isn’t so harsh.

Hey man, glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. One thing I haven't figured out though, is how to apply the voice isolation to multiple clips at the same time. It tends to only apply it to the first clip within the multiple selection. Hopefully, I'm just missing a trick here

After an hour of looking around, and updating to the latest minor version. I just learned that Voice Isolation is only available to Davinci Resolve Studio. Now I'm seriously thinking of shelling out the cash to get a Studio License! Based on this video, it is that good!

I think the Studio version is so worth it. Some of these new features especially, let alone noise reduction and the Neural Engine which brings so much other great stuff. Thanks for watching.

@@AlexCameron-Depiqd You should change the title of the video to mention Studio, it is misleading otherwise.

I tried using this but I some of the speech was missing. I wonder if the original recording was just too noisy, or the level too low. Or maybe my computer is struggling to run the neural engine fast enough. It would be nice if there was some sort of coloured line above the clip to indicate that the processing was progressing or completed.

I'm currently going through your 'Beginners Guide' course and I'm up to lesson 12:11, Noise Reduction. Will this new feature supercede this lesson?
@AlexCameron-Depiqd
@AlexCameron-Depiqd Жыл бұрын
Of course, Hi George! So, I think this new feature will actually be a new video that follows the Noise Reduction one. Mainly because the other technique is still available and works very well so I think it's useful to know both. I'll definitely be updating the course with a thorough video on this process though. Hope that helps and thanks so much for picking up the courses you have. All going okay?

@Alex Cameron - Depiqd Absolutely Alex. It's a superb course and you make it very easy to follow. It's frustrating when I have to put it down to go and lay floors for a living, haha. I first became interested when I listened to you on the Blue Skies podcast. I'm hoping to ease myself into that line of business.

amazing. Will it help tame a reverby room?
@AlexCameron-Depiqd
@AlexCameron-Depiqd Жыл бұрын
Good question. I personally haven’t tried it but I have a feeling that it will although there could be some artefacts as reverb is ultimately still a human voice which is what the tool is designed to look for. I’ll definitely try that when I get a chance.

So I do not have that as an option, is it only available in the paid version? EDIT: "It appears there may have been an accidental build of the free version with Voice Isolation included - build 16. I got an update for 18.1 build 18 on the free version on macOS that removed it. Plus, release notes indicate it’s a Studio-only feature." - whyareyouemailingme (reddit)

Yeah I heard reports of a free version out there that had voice isolation included. It shouldn’t be though. All material suggests it is using the Neural Engine and that’s only available in Studio.

Are you on the free version of Resolve? Voice Isolation requires the Studio version I’m afraid so that might be why. It uses the Neural Engine which is a Studio feature. Sometimes people who have Studio accidentally download the free version of the update file rather than the Studio one so make sure you didn’t accidentally do that. (PS - I’ve done it before by mistake! 😂)

At 100% it chews into the voice. If the ambient sounds are not that obnoxious, you can turn it down some for more natural sound.
@AlexCameron-Depiqd
@AlexCameron-Depiqd Жыл бұрын
I think there’s definitely examples I’ve seen where that’s the case so I think it depends on the source clip as to how badly that happens. In my tests, it’s been pretty darn good and becomes useable which is the main thing. I personally like turning it back and blending the result with the original too. Good suggestion. Thanks for watching!
