What did you line the opening with on the inside to make sure its heat resistant?

Hi at 14minutes in- you can see the boards being cut to size- I think it's called vermiculite? Special board that heats resistant- thanks Yorky

Approx £2500 - all fitted and finished etc - we wanted a larger oak beam and a single piece slate hearth- both extra. £2000 without extras . Focus fireplaces in York - thanks to them

What did you replace the old concrete lintel with?

Left it in place- removed everything upto the level of the lintel.

@@yorkknight ah!, couldn't see on the video, the builders opening looks about the size I'm going for (so there's more flue pipe) but mine is a lot smaller. Thanks for the reply, looks like you have done a sterling job there 👍🏻.

Diď they cap off the gas supply from the fire before they ripped it out,or did you have thàt done before they came in? Im looking at having one put in,and what kw is the stove,name and model would be good to know as im researching

Hi David, yes they did all the work required- incl capping off the gas. The only thing we had to do , was decorate afterwards. The stove is an Aspect 4 I think- approx 5kw. Gets really warm in the room. Ive since bought a heat generated fan to try to spread the warmth more.

@@yorkknight thanks for the reply, i had a run to a store in hudds today and one that i liked was £4000 fitted,id like one that will take a few logs at once as some that i have seen online are only small chambers and can only take one log. S i may have a run to york and heck em out or ring em

I know- but it takes so long to download / edit etc- so I decided timelapse from the start. You can slow it to watch certain parts if you want

@@MP-po6fj The fire company charged £2400 , incl fitting etc. Then we just had to redecorate - £100 ? Thanks Yorky

Doesn't look like a professional job at all. Not bad for a do it yourself but even then, could have done a cleaner job.

It was a great job - don't know why you think it wasn't professional- they cleaned up after aswell.
