Chameleon…it must be shedding season lol cause it seems everyone’s lizards are shedding at the moment. When my Savannah Was shedding, I would keep a few cool looking pieces that came off of her. So I had this “collection” & when she sadly passed away….I had a necklace pendant & a bracelet made with her shedded skin pieces. Makes for a very special keepsake ! I wear the necklace all the time ! So keep the cool looking pieces ! 🦎😊🤙🏻

Poor Simba, he look so sad / uncomfortable with all that new skin& new shed... it must take a lot out of you to grow a new skin all t once instead of one/ couple cells at a time... And have to shed it all at once...but it's always great to see Simba! thanks as always and take care. Chameleon

Awe that’s so sad to hear. Sorry about your loss ! I had a Savannah that was about 4yrs old…..just as tame & friendly as Simba here…& sadly & very unexpectedly she passed away just a few months ago back in December. Never a fun thing to go through 😢🦎

Camera tip I learned from a game dev. Stick a popsocket to the back of your phone and film with the socket in your mouth, leaves both hands free while filming.

I always love shed videos. There are a few differences to certain shed stages with different reptiles, but they all seem to brighten up once they're done. Shed is itchy and I can only imagine it's annoying at best. I'm happy that we're starting to get away from the dangerous old school teaching of not aiding in their shed sessions. I grew up in wildlife rescue (which somehow meant we got everything dropped off except dogs 🤷‍♀️😂 I'll never understand) and every lizard and gecko we ever got in had missing toes or amputated tails from stuck shed (or heat rocks... Can't believe they still sell those 💔). If they are in our care, we are tasked to assist them. ❤️

Chameleon.....great, thankyou. Apologise if I missed it, but I wondered why would you not soak Simba to rid the shed? Appreciate all your comments eg '...remember he's a dry shed animal' and that '...he has a water bowl to soak, if he wants' and '......dont take the shed off until it's ready' and the clue may be in the species name? etc, but could there be a danger to soaking him in say a bath, maybe to his lungs, or skin? Don’t know if you’d be interested, but you could try a camera with head mount for your videos. That way, you’d have both hands free for tasks like peeling your lizard!

he was 5 weeks old, almost all the shed is gone/ a few spots left.

Hey so I think that Simba is a little under weight at this point. There is literally no fat left in his tail and that's not a good sign at all. I have seen and delt with both obese and anorexic savs at my reptile rescue and simba looks very similar to a lot of monitors that we get in that are extremely underweight and weak. Not trying to say this is intentional on your part by any means, you clearly love your reptiles, but I think you might have gone overboard with his dieting. Just a concerned fan and wouldn't want anything bad to happen to Simba!
