Help Rick ! I watched the tutorial. I have a X-Men 101 which I thought was in 9.0+ territory. When I started to clean I noticed a small piece oh tape on the lower left side, front cover. With the help of the tutorial I was able to get the cellophane part of the tape off. I was left with the dark, gummy , sticky part underneath. Heating and using the white sponge in your kit had minimal affect. Using the immacuclean actually started to work but I am now starting to lose some of the ink in the book, any suggestions ?

Hello Rick. I've seen a number of your videos and I've enjoyed the information. I'm a long time reader/collector of the Marvel Silver age and my specific question has to do with trying to remove old tape residue that has browned over the years. I have two specific books I'd like to clean up. One is Tales to Astonish #54. It's a UK/Pence Variant and someone had put a price sticker over the UK price. When I bought it, the sticker had likely been long removed and it left behind some residue that has browned. I'd like to minimize color and perhaps ink loss and I wonder what I could use to help me with that. My other book is ASM #50. The same issue but it's residue from scotch tape, long removed and browned as well just not as severe as TTA #54. The minor good thing is it's on the back cover in a white edge. I'll admit I put it on a small tear back in the day, and the tape fell off after it dried up. Aside from this video, have you previously addressed the type of thing I mentioned and if so, would you refer me to the video? Thank you.

What wood burner would you recommend buying?

Hi rick - so coming back to this - as I am still excitingly waiting for my 'wet'-cleaning stuff and trying to enhance my dry cleaning skills - I got some books that have glue residues on the cover ( probably from tape ). Did I get this correct in the end - your advice is to get this hot ( I already go myself a mini soldering iron for spine-tick removal ) and then slowly rub it off with a sponge or similar... do you think it's a good idea to but a silicon-paper sheet on top of the glue when heating it - luckily I just saw you wrote 180 °F - but I think I can only heat it to ~150-180 °C? Only short heating on top of the silicon sheet? Or to big of a risk burning the book? thanks

How about heating the area on the cover from both sides? May soften the glue faster.

I have the same scenario. The price tag has already been removed but the residue of the glue stayed. The problem is, this comic cover is different from your common book where the surface is porous like the paper inside. It's a UK comic, Captain Britain 1970's issue. The glue of the price tag has left a square dark mark as though its been clear coated with a shellac. I'd like to have it removed. Any advice?

Sry... in danger of sounding dumb here - so this is a heated tool (Sry none-native speaker - didn't quite get that name to translate it into german)? How hot should that be? Anyway - thx for your videos, learned a lot of things i never have found anywhere else ( and just bought a run of books from ebay that had damn prive-tags on them, I didn't see at first )...

great tool! where did you find that flat head for the wood burner?

burned the hell out of my fingers using my wifes hair dryer lol - this is way better
