She is right, it was beautiful. Ren is talking about all the wrong medications the system has been forcing him to take and the nasty side effects of wrong diagnosis. At least that’s the way I interpret it. We can all see it differently and mould it in what fits in our world. Ren and Chinchilla live How to be Me, then Chinchilla on her own with Little Girl Gone then Little Girl Gone Requiem (live). Then finish it all off with a dose of Chinchilla Fingers, live :).

I agree 100%. “Walk around in a floating chalk outline “ is the best description of the way the meds make you feel. And then when she says “trace yourself in a chalk outline” it’s like you didn’t make it.

What I love about Ren's quill is how much is left open to interpretation. The lyrics have meaning based on your personal experience. For me, this song resonates to my mental health illnesses and the drugs that are supposed to help, but often leave you numb and a shell of yourself - a floating chalk outline. You're alive but dead inside. You hate your life, but you're used to it. So much anxiety about change. Can you handle it? What if you get better, but then get sick again? Could you start over? "I'm scared of being okay 'cause all things change." The opening lines hit hardest though, "I'm still here in this bed that I crawled in/I hope that I'm someone else in the morning." It takes all your effort to try to rest...you had to "crawl" just to get there..and all you can think is want a different life - a different body, a different mind - be someone, anyone, else when you wake up. Ugh. Gotta say that I hope you check out a happier, more inspiring Ren, too, especially Ren with Eden Nash, "Humble" and "Ocean." *invigorating* Love your openness and honesty. Great reaction by both of you. Very relatable. 💛

By doing this many have opened up and shared their pain and pain like never before. I have reached 3 score & 10 (70 yrs for you young uns) and recently was diagnosed with PTSD. Through his sharing Ren has helped me open up and share and it really helps. I am a great fan of Black Pegasus reactions, and BP has often said Ren has helped him change his life by opening up some of the things he kept buried. Its such a cool thing that Ren manages to do. Go check out Ren & Chinchilla - How to Be Me (Live), plus Chinchilla - Fingers (Live for Hunger TV) When you do Fingers I suggest keeping your fingers tucked away in your pockets.. Sub'd. I take it as more the prescriptions that doctors give you, antidepressants, anti-anxiety, etc, so many of them cause you to not feel right, feel numb or dead inside. That's why so many schizophrenics and people like that go off their meds, because they feel like they can't feel ANYTHING. But I can see it can apply to addiction as well.

The fact that your reactions are authentically the first time you have checked out the music, is one of the many good things about your channel. It is easy to see when reactors cheat because they give themselves away by knowing more than they should for a first time reaction, and it leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. I don’t mind if reactors have mistakenly watched something twice and own up to it, though; anyone can make a mistake. 😊 🇬🇧 You both are confident in being yourselves (like Ren), and that is extremely attractive. 👍

The beauty of Ren's songs is that he leaves room for interpretation from personal experience. Addiction and dependence on other meds even prescribed is hard. It hit me in a slightly different way, I'm actually on sertraline aka zoloft at the moment (chinchilla's line "sertraline and a sip of serotonin" is about zoloft which is an SSRI which helps ppl with their absorption of serotonin to battle depression) and I know the feeling loss that comes with these meds. Psyche meds tend to put a wall between you and the world and even your own feelings. This, to me, is the chalk outline. Basically, walking dead. Being on/off these meds for most of my adult life, that hit me with a big punch. (I'm also on a metric buttload of other meds). But your angle from an addiction standpoint is also very astute and valid. Different perspectives teach us different things and it's so awesome to see something from another perspective. Thank you so much. Also, the beauty of the song absolutely hammers home the tragedy of the subject. I think it makes it so much more emotionally impacting. Thank you for a great reaction Also, Ren's "how to be Me" live with Chinchilla is another necessity!

It’s the meds he’s been given that REN is talking about. sertraline, an anti-depressant medication, boosts serotonin, so when you’re prescribed it you’re in a bubble of chemically induced haziness, you’re in a chalk outline, untouched by your depression and it’s causes. Even on good days you take it, ‘cos “you’re scared of being ok, cause all things change”, so you take it “just in case”. It can become a vicious circle and you never quite get back to reality, ‘cos it might hurt too much, especially when your depression is caused by misdiagnosis and the drugs you were given for the illness you DON’T have. Ren’s Brain has been damaged by the antipsychotic drugs he was given during the years the doctors failed him. That he is as brilliant and capable an artist as he is, is testimony to his strength of character, determination and perseverance. Thank god he finally got correctly diagnosed, but a lot of the damage, physical and psychological, is probably permanent. Lyme disease is NASTY!! and the misprescribed drugs he was given are nastier!

First off, tell home girl I LOVE the hat, not only is that my actual first name, Halloween is my favorite holiday and Tim Burton is one of my all time fav writers!! Nothing against your hat my man, you wear it well, just a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan. As far as the song, now I believe music is interpretive, and I've literally heard Ren say he loves that different people can take different things, and messages from his music in order for it suite their needs or feelings, so far be it for me to tell you how this song should hit ya in the feels. Plus on top of that, I dealt with addiction myself, the year my pops died, in 2014, I also had a shoulder injury on the job, firefighting, which they gave me opioids for, mix that with with losing the greatest, kindest man you've ever known, and the fact he died of cancer and after he died, had buckets full of pain meds my mom wanted me to get rid of, and you got yourself a nice little pain pill habit. 2-1/2 years later I couldn't even get out of bed without taking a large handful of them, just to function for the day. Anyway, enough of that, checked myself into rehab late 2016, been opioid free since. I think this song could very well be about addiction, in fact I never thought of it that way, and that is a new perspective on this song for me. And it very well could be what Ren was talking about, but remember, Ren went undiagnosed with his Lyme disease for close to 7-8yrs I believe, and the docs were telling him it was all in his head. He said they put him on so many different pills during that time, experimenting to see what would work, some days he thought his head was gonna pop off and roll down the street. Sometimes some of them would help a little, but he hated the fact he had to take all these damn medications in his mid 20s, like he was a 70yr old guy. I also know I've struggled with that, having general anxiety and job related ptsd, I've found a few antidepressants that really help, put me in a better overall mood day to day, and mike life a little more bearable. But then after taking one that helps more that a year or two, I'm like, I'm not gonna live my life tied to some friggin' medication, and get off them for a while, till I start having issues again. I personally think that's what he means by "It's such a beautiful day, take it just in case". But then after you brought up addiction, I totally remembered times I was on opioids, and trying to cut down on them, or ween myself off them all together, without any help, and then a cool or fun event would come up that i was going to go to, and I'd be like, man, I can't be all dope sick and crabby, I'll just take some today and put that smile on, so I feel ok for the big day. So props man for giving me a different perspective of this song, great reaction as usual!!! ✌️💚

Ren and Chinchilla are singing about prescribed medication, Sertraline is a prescribed anti-depressant that stimulates serotonin levels. The chalk outlines are the feeling you get taking anti-depressants, you erase your personality, yourself, your being, and walk around numb as if it's not you... just a chalk outline of yourself... It could also apply to recreational drugs, but in this instance, he is referring to prescription medication, and the medical profession's preference to give out drugs to treat depression... similarly in Sick Boi

REN Saved me last year with this song and I needed you to start my day. Im 53 sober 20 years and have battled adhd-odd compounded by ocd. It makes me uncontrollably violent so I self medicated my whole life. I’m sober from all that and no medication at all finally. I no longer battle my ADHD-ODD or my OCD. I embrace them and have compassion for them. They no longer control me. They work for me now and can be valuable tools. Drugs and alcoholism empower them so I went to war with those addictions first and won some key battles and gained the respect for myself I needed. Then I empowered my afflictions(adhd-odd ocd) with positivity love and compassion. I use healing frequencies and Tibetan’s singing bowls right here on KZfaq. I attend soundbaths and meditate with OM. It calms the ADHD lulls my ODD to sleep and focuses my OCD.I’m a different person because of it. Try it!

Honestly, have you seen people not necessarily in love but might be soul mates? Not saying they should be dating or whatever; just saying they get each other at a crazy level, and the parts are greater than the sum. So beautiful. Check How to Be Me. And she is so quiet on that first intro. You can hear the background hiss from being turned up so much and hear her earrings hit each other. Such a soft, beautiful voice. Got to say Bri, you beautiful girl. You getting it. Love your reaction.

You're reaction gave me chills. I'm sorry you understand this song as well as you do.. I hope you two can lean on each other to get out. I've been clean decades now.. it can get better. Much love to you two, your reaction may help change lives, just as Ren has. Keep up the great work ❤
