In 3 days, it will be the 1 year anniversary of when Hi Ren premiered. It currently has over 22 million views. I think it would be really cool for all of the reactors/people to make a video for Ren, telling him what an impact he has had on us all this past year. He's changed lives.

Good thing we're not all the same! Everyone has their own tastes... I respect that!... But, if you really don't like it, perhaps it would be better to simply say that you don't like it (if you want to say something or express your reaction)! If it seems truly awful to you, perhaps it would be more correct to say "it seems truly awful to me"... don't assume that "It is"... For many others it isn't! Thanks for the comment - and save yourself the unpleasantness.... If you don't like it, don't listen to the album anymore!

Good choice Jamel to go over to Knox. He is the best to break down the lyrics. Plus he has a high level of intelligence. I am older than you are and had absolutely no clue about Hip Hop and Rap. But he can explain it for the newbies in the genre.- Thank you for the fun reaction.☮

You should check out the Subdudes. They’re a New Orleans band that formed in the late eighties and have a pretty unique sound to them, though they are relatively obscure outside of their home city. Their first album, Annunciation, and Primitive Streak are all really great albums. “Why can’t I forget about you” and “All the time in the world” are some standout songs.

I have commented on a few channels that if this was released in the USA by a major label with a music video and whole backing, it would be on the billboard charts.. since its like by a UK rapper as a last addition to a successful album, i am not sure if the US radio market or the streaming algorithm will ever hear it... youtube only unfortunately.

Funny that you mention the younger crowd; Ren mixes that new stuff with old school references. I feel like us older dudes are the only ones getting those bars that include name drops like "go to war Like I'm Danny Glover". Basically saying he's a "Lethal Weapon. Ren's bars are thought provoking AF. hahaha
@kellyt53417 ай бұрын
Funny how KSO just got done calling Ren's song "ass" and he should listen to rap more. He said his bars don't make sense since he doesn't understand them. That reaction was disrespectful and he embarrasses himself. Ren's quote from MG2 comes to mind " it don't matter if they hate you, just as long as they all say your name"
@DartyFL7 ай бұрын
He's been a rough critic of Ren. Some people have a hard time with Ren's cadence change-ups and his playful voice tones. Differeing opinions are to be expected. It's a rough industry and you can't please everyone. For me, Ren is a musical genius (not just a rapper that is hand-fed his beats) and I can't get his hooks out of my head. Sick Boi is basically the most complete "demo tape" I've ever heard....and that's really what this album is. It's a showcase of all of his abilities in one highly digestable digital venue. Yeah, he's been around doing his thing for years but 2023 was his rap world debut and it's impressive AF. The messages, the lyrics, the production are all his own and the fact that he was able to pull this off without a record label and still blow up like he did is crazy.

Hey Jamel, you don't need to break down songs. Just chill if that is your reaction. There are so many types of reactions out there, I'm glad that they are all unique. Knox is good at all the technical breakdowns and he is really smart about what is being said in the song. SnakeVenom goes really deep lyrically and visually. You should check him out. Take care

I keep seeing this name "Ren" all over in video reactions, so I decided to at least give it a listen... lasted 10 seconds and noped out. Are all his "songs" rap, or are some singing? Because I would rather get all my teeth root-canaled with rusty plyers and an ice pick than listen to this.
@redzwestisbest7 ай бұрын
No, he does rap in alot of his songs, but he has tons of other stuff. Suggest watching his rock band The Big Push (their busking videos) or his solo stuff like Hi Ren, The tale of Jenny and Screech, Chalk Outlines, How to Be Me, etc.

So you listened to 10 seconds of an album track from his first rap-only album, and then decided to post a comment based on that? I want to say that you probably haven't got the patience for Ren (some of his songs demand 9 minutes of attention) but I'm above that (barely!) and we Renegades believe in giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. This probably is not the best place to start listening to Ren, in fact most songs on this album probably aren't the best place to start (with a couple of exceptions) - I doubt I would have taken to Ren immediately if this song was my first introduction. Like many fans, my first introduction was Hi Ren and you should give it a go, but only when you are prepared to commit 9 minutes to it. For singing, try Chalk Outlines, How to be Me, Fire, Heretic, or any of his busking stuff or stuff with his band, The Big Push. I mean, he's primarily a mixture of hip hop and indie rock, so if you don't like hip hop, then it probably rules out half of his 200 or so song catalog, but it still leaves a fair bit of 'singing' if that's what you prefer.
