What I love so much about Ren and Chinchilla together is how intensely they engage each other during the song. It's so much more than just a duet. It's allowing us to watch a much deeper connection take place between 2 souls through music.

Ren's music has incredible depth & substance. Chinchilla's ability to tap into that along with her own talent and artistry makes for truly amazing collaborations.

When I need a good cry, Ren is there. When I need a bit more self esteem, Ren is there. When I feel overwhelmed, Ren reactions are there to let me know I am not alone. Love you.

This song was about his friend, Joe Hughes, who sadly took his own life at just 19 (by jumping off the Menai bridge around 3.00 a.m on 28 December 2010). He wrote the song Freckled Angels about Joe and dedicated the album of the same name to him.

This sing punched me in the throat and ripped my soul out of me the first time I watched...and the next...and the next. The level of ugly crying has not diminished with usage, which is a testament to how talented and authentic Ren and Chinchilla come across and the actual depth and emotion behind the music. There has been only one other song that brings tears every time I hear it, Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here,' and those are usually just a trickle. I feel truly lucky to have found Ren and his collaborators not that very long ago. Serendipity is accurate in my discovery...but it doesn't do justice in capturing how this music has brought me back from the abyss and is giving me genuine hope.

This is just incredible. The discordant notes are haunting and work so well to convey mood . Reminds me of Tori Amos and how she plays with those notes. Just mind blowing Ren and Chinchilla are. Wow

Hey, I know it's just a reflex to apologize for crying in your videos or showing "too much emotion", as I have the same reflex (people get super weird seeing a man in his 30s cry lol). I've only seen 2 of your Ren videos (about to watch this one after typing this) and seeing such raw emotions is why I wanted to subscribe. I've watched reactions to the Hi Ren video probably 45 times, mostly repeat watches got the number that high, and I've cried like a baby every single time. As someone who has had a particularly bad year, I finally feel like I've been seen after seeing that video. The line "I am the voice after you loosen the noose on the rope" gets tears literally flowing down my face. I'm not sure the point I'm trying to make, mostly just that seeing such raw emotions is something so beautiful and I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel :)

This song is heartbreaking but hauntingly beautiful. Someone said most of the song is written from the perspective of the friend he lost, up until the last line 😿 So I keep listening to it. But you can feel the pain and loss. It’s sad that they never found Joe’s body. Ren has the ability to channel so many different emotions through his voice and utilizes such a wide range of vocal techniques and styles. I think I’m drawn more to his melodic voice, but even when he raps, he uses melodic flows and cadences. So it’s hard to choose. Thankfully we don’t have to 😉 I love the collaborations with Chinchilla. She has a gorgeous voice with tremendous control! They have an amazing blend and you can tell they have a deep connection when they perform together. They both sing from the depths of their soul ❤️

I know I recommended this one, it's soooo powerful. I think part of the beauty of Ren is that he can bend genre's and he's so good at all of it.

I just don't know what to say about Ren anymore. Kid can do it all, and do it masterfully. More impressed with Chinchillas vocal ability tbh. It's impeccable how she drags certain chords down, only to remind you that she's doing it on purpose and can belt. Idk if it's intentional or not but I love it.

I like it when it hits me in the feels.. regardless of the genre. Dominoes is a song which starts off kinda bouncey, then still manages to punch you in the gut emotionally once you get to a certain point in the song. Highly recommend, although I know your list is long. Have you heard Bo Burnham? He’s a hilarious musical comedian/piano player/singer/rapper who both makes you laugh til your sides hurt.. whilst simultaneously commenting on the state of the world/society/religion/mental health in a way that pushes boundaries. If you have the space in your list somewhere, I’d suggest either ‘Welcome to the Internet’ or ‘How the world works’. 🖤

This is a perfect example of people who have all sorts of technical skills who just put that to the side to be completely raw and honestly imperfect. I keep feeling like Ren really could take his music to a musical theater setting because it's all about the story and not the technicalities. I'd love to see him shown on SNL or another late night show to get a wider exposure too, but his raw honesty comes with a lot of F bombs that network execs and FCC suits would freak out over. Can we just put a big warning up that there will be profanity and deeply disturbing lyrical content, but you need to watch anyway.

Ren is a great singer, but when Chinchilla is on the track, she KILLS it! It's hard to pay attention to him honestly. I can choose, being mostly a metal/rap head generally not interested in Folk or easy listening I think he's best rapping, his flows are insane and he's fun with it even with serious topics (like Sick Boi is serious, but Losin It and What You Want aren't, they're just fun) . That said he IS a master of many styles, the slower melodic songs NEED to be heard as well along with the Bardcore Jenny/Screech/Violet... I can't count how many times I've listened to this one, whether it's the first or 100th, you still get chills from Chinchilla toward the end!

Their harmonising on both songs I've heard them do together is incredible

Well kiddo. (I hope you don't mind the term of endearment) Their voices are almost pitched to make you cry. I swear it is! 😢I didn't fair as well as you did on this one. When Chinchilla belts out "where is my GOD, where are you?...i die inside ->every time and start to cry. I felt that way when my grandmother passed-she was my everything (besides my kids). 15 years later...i still can't think about her without falling apart. Anywhoooo... As far as a favorite rythym of his...it goes by my mood. Dancing mood- rap Moody mood- This stuff. Lol...😂 Truly he has something for every emotion that you need covered!🤗 See ya on the next one! We went to Indiana once, to camp out and the chick with the van played some coffee houses. I have no idea WHY we went to Indiana (from Long Island, NY)... no offense, but we'll never go back if we can help it, it's been about 25 years and I think I still smell the sulfur showers from Northern In. campgrounds!!! I will say though, the people were cool, from the city to the camp to the little towns, everyone was super sweet, someone mentioned something about Becky playing coffee houses and they thought we were poor, other campers brought us bags of food (not rich, but we had enough... how do you say no to that kindness though?!?!?. Another Indianian told us to bring a bottle with some In. dirt and water in it to remind us why we don't want to return, she wasn't rude, totally joking around... she wasn't wrong though!

This song has really made me think about my own mental health a lot. "I forgot how to be me" is possibly one of the best ways to describe the things that I am fighting with now, and I am incredibly tempted to get it tattooed next to my ; tattoo, but I don't want to take away from the meaning of the song. Ren and Chinchilla are amazing together, but this song hit me right in the chest.
