The Laguna iii GT models have rear wheel steering. When a power steering fault is displayed often the faulty part is the rear steering actuator.

I got caught by a massive storm and insane rain that flood the main street with exact same car, i could barely see anything, barely crawling around 5mph or 10-11kmh and i hit a pothole or a rock, not quite sure but it was a slight bump and i felt hit at front right wheel, somehow rear right wheel missed it entirely luckily. Immediately error came up on dashboard "power steering failure" "check EPS" and "stop the vehicle. I was 3 km away from home and i continued at a slow pace, car was behaving normally, wheel worked normally even on dry steering. My vacation is in about 10 days and i have a bad feeling that this is gonna cost me a lot.

It could be anything. Could have simply dislodged the abs sensor, or anything suspension related. Get it up in the air or to a garage to have a look. Unlikely to be this power steering actuator based on what you’ve described

@@elderoo8483 Thanks for quick reply on a 2 year old video. I dont have necessary equpment or knowledge for check up. Will have to wait until monday for my service guy. My guess is always the worst and "its gonna be expensive"

@@elderoo8483 Yes, because it was weekend i had to wait until monday. It turns out that rock or something else struck PK belt, ripped off 1 segment (channel) and because of that it completely grinded roller that drives rest of the servo pump, AC compressor, water pump and so on. If it werent for the noise the very first morning i would be in a big problem. So basically whoever read this, do not ignore clicking noise and think that its alright when it stops by itself after few kilometers. It means your roller is slowly being grinded to bearings. Luckily because i went to service soon enough, only belt is replaced which is around 120e. Forgot to mention we have the same car, mine is just black

Is there just one actuator on the rear axle or is there one for each side? I think mine has gone!! Car is trying to kill me and I have these exact warning on the dash.Thx.Alan.

It’s a £2000+ part brand new for the Laguna! Try get a second hand one from eBay or a breakers yard, it’s not a difficult job

You will struggle, I got really lucky. The part is only on the GT models. A genuine new one from Renault is an astonishing £2000+ (plus VAT). My only advice is keep searching for people breaking one of the GT models, and keep ringing around breakers and searching eBay periodically with the part number. I bought mine as a refurbished unit from autoflesh in the Ukraine (autoflesh.com.ua/). I guess you could message them and see if they’re likely to get any more
