Hi, Do you have a link to the part? Struggling to find one anywhere in any breakers in the UK
@elderoo84839 ай бұрын
You will struggle, I got really lucky. The part is only on the GT models. A genuine new one from Renault is an astonishing £2000+ (plus VAT). My only advice is keep searching for people breaking one of the GT models, and keep ringing around breakers and searching eBay periodically with the part number. I bought mine as a refurbished unit from autoflesh in the Ukraine (autoflesh.com.ua/). I guess you could message them and see if they’re likely to get any more

@@elderoo8483 thanks for the response. I've got the spindle out and put it in vinegar as you suggested. It's the white round plastic bit that has the contacts on I can't get out. It won't budge and I don't want to damage it. On your video it came straight out attached to the spindle when you pushed it through by tapping it on the hard surface. Any thoughts please?

I got caught by a massive storm and insane rain that flood the main street with exact same car, i could barely see anything, barely crawling around 5mph or 10-11kmh and i hit a pothole or a rock, not quite sure but it was a slight bump and i felt hit at front right wheel, somehow rear right wheel missed it entirely luckily. Immediately error came up on dashboard "power steering failure" "check EPS" and "stop the vehicle. I was 3 km away from home and i continued at a slow pace, car was behaving normally, wheel worked normally even on dry steering. My vacation is in about 10 days and i have a bad feeling that this is gonna cost me a lot.
@elderoo8483 Жыл бұрын
It could be anything. Could have simply dislodged the abs sensor, or anything suspension related. Get it up in the air or to a garage to have a look. Unlikely to be this power steering actuator based on what you’ve described

@@Clint_Beastwood87 did you find out what it was?
@Clint_Beastwood87 Жыл бұрын
@@elderoo8483 Yes, because it was weekend i had to wait until monday. It turns out that rock or something else struck PK belt, ripped off 1 segment (channel) and because of that it completely grinded roller that drives rest of the servo pump, AC compressor, water pump and so on. If it werent for the noise the very first morning i would be in a big problem. So basically whoever read this, do not ignore clicking noise and think that its alright when it stops by itself after few kilometers. It means your roller is slowly being grinded to bearings. Luckily because i went to service soon enough, only belt is replaced which is around 120e. Forgot to mention we have the same car, mine is just black

If the sensor is seized the gap in the socket may start opening and socket might slip. One tip is to tighten hose clamp around the socket to prevent this happening. Or just cut the leads and use box end of a wrench.

Just done exactly what you did in the video. Cider vinegar working a treat. Hardest thing was getting the wiper arm off but got a bit creative with a puller I borrowed from a mechanic mate and a dash of plus gas and it sprung off fine. Didn’t even need to buy a new wiper arm. 👍😄 Just got to clean everything up and reinstall. Removing the interior trim, I just tapped a screwdriver in between the plastic and eased it out till I could get a finger behind it and pulled. The clips came away easily so nothing of concern there either. Really is a simple diy repair. Thanks. Saved me a few Bob.

Just wanted to add something for all my fellow VAG sufferers. The reciprocating seal where the black plastic water inlet housing meets the end of the hollow shaft wears out and fails [terrible design that was always going to fail]. The water under pressure then fills up the unit , emulsifies the grease and starts rusting any steel. The electrical contacts short hence the first sign of problems often being that the wiper develops a life of it's own. Ironically, that gasket keeps the water in! [Bye the way, if the water does leak out, it could drip down on the lock electrics and kill that too. If you've started noticing the odd drip when you open the hatch, it's time to investigate.] A cheap replacement unit may well quickly fail again for the same reason, as will a VAG unit although it'll probably take a lot longer being better quality [but still a terrible design]. It sounds like madness I know but the only long term fix is to carefully fit a separate washer jet through the boot lid and modify/attach the water pipe to that. You'll be completely bypassing the motor so no more water in it, whether you've refurbed the original or bought a new one. Just be careful about painting and sealing the hole in the body you've drilled before fitting the new jet or it'll rust really quickly. Only to be tackled by the competent, it'll cost you around a tenner but it's not for the faint hearted!

Hi does this engine mount cause your car to vibrate in tick over ?
@elderoo84834 жыл бұрын
No not for me, it was more of a knocking sound pulling off, slowing down and going over bumps. It could cause slight vibration but it could also be one of the other engine mounts I suppose

Can you go into a little more detail who made this exhaust? Is this a cat back or just flow cats with stock muffler?
@elderoo84836 жыл бұрын
Hi this is full system with high flow sports cats fitted by Tony Banks in Leeds. They fitted 90 degree spacers for the rear o2 sensors and the car didn’t like it. It wasn’t getting any reading from the sensors and the car thought it wasn’t getting enough fuel. It started running rich as it was over fuelling to try and compensate. I went back and had the spacers removed and it was all fine. It did however through a code for post cat efficiency as the sensors were now getting a high reading. I had these mapped out when I had the car remapped and it was spot on after that. Personally if I was to do it all again I wouldn’t bother with the sports cats. They didn’t really improve performance and all they did was mess up the fuelling and throw an engine management light. Just go for a cat back and leave the cats alone I reckon
@timsmith82426 жыл бұрын
I put usp high flow cats and a full cat back exhaust. It didn't like it either because it just ran rich and killed my power, but a tune it gained a good 22 whp over stock with the much better free breathing exhaust. Lesson learned just get a good tune and you are set.

Does it matter what position the white wheel is in when you replace it?
@nerminavdic79876 жыл бұрын
best bet is to put just the white wheel in, connect the wiper and let it cycle once so the contacts can reset themselves. or you can allign the section of the wheel with no metal on it, with the contacts on the housing. dont assemble it without zeroing the white wheel, as you could then shred your gears, and basically fuck up your rear wiper
