As mentioned on the previous repair on this car, the next issue I was asked to look at, was a knocking noise coming apparently from the driver side front suspension...
Upon investigation, it was indeed on the front driver side, and quite bad indeed!

Great work as always! The guy will be back to you soon saying the car is bouncy and he's hearing loud bangs over potholes. I assume then he will go with only one strut to change and the ripped dust guard can of course go back to the car. :D

When my spring snapped... I went and changed the damper too. Then did both sides. I could have re-used my dust covers and bump stops.. but for the £10 it costs... it wasn't worth the mechanics to strip down the old struts. Why owners try to save a little bit of money is beyond me. I would have instructed to change BOTH strut tops (other side likely to be in similar condition), both dust covers AND both dampers.

I suspected top mount from the beginning. Easy fix, but pain accessing and removing the strut. Renault suspension! I have had to replace broken top mounts, broken springs, shock absorbers and drop links on my brothers Grand Scenic 2 (2.0 dCi). The top mounts had to be replaced twice on both sides, because they need to be ball bearing type, not friction type! I did the final work, a broken top mount and replace drop links on the last weekend of June. The car is going soon because of ULEZ and my brother wants a change. You did good job and just like the Scenic, you have to remove the bulkhead panel or cover to get at the top bolts or nuts. Once again well done, and hope you don't see the very same car again soon!

Good that it was easy to find. Had a noisy front suspension that was very difficult to find.Turned out the nut inside the damper that holds the damper rod to the damper had come loose.

😅 It took me over 1 year to find an annoying intermittent rattling noise on the M5... was driving me insane... No so much the noise, but the fact that I was unable to figure out where it was coming from... 🤯 Sorted now though... 👍👍👍

Well Luis, now you are coming into our DAILY repairs. Springs and stut tops/strut bearings . 2 cars a day when it's a slow one. I have 2 air operated spring compressors with all the safety bells and whistles but!!! we use the "dangerous" ones that you are using on several specific car models. Nothing wrong with those as long as you are not a moron. WHICH YOU ARE MOST DEFINETLY NOT!! Nice job Luis 👍👍👍

good morning mr Luis a easy one for a change when you showed the play between the strut and damper piston rod and the deflection i thought it was shot and potentially leaking needing new keep up the most excellent work

Great video guide mate! By the way, am interested to OE shocks for this mk3, am planning to rebuild my suspension aswel, I would prefer getting the best replacements. Regards

I have a problem with my Citroen C5 2005 when just when I select in the gear D 1 2 3 it did not show on the screen but the gearbox change normally ,what may cause this?

Good morning Luis. A straight forward diagnosis and fix this time. In your opinion would it have been sensible to have both front bearings and mounts replaced?. Also would the rubber protection sleeve failed the MOT inspection as it does not protect dirt and allows ingress of water whilst driving? Seems a pity that the owner of the vehicle refused to invest a few pounds to have this replaced. 😊

I always replace parts like that in pairs, and not replacing the boot is just silly. You are totally correct.

What do you mean? Of course the oil will come out cleaner as you clean the engine... that said, I am not very in favour of using flushing oils or additives... If you want flush the engine, use the same grade oil, perhaps a cheaper oil, but same grade... that's at least how I do it... 👍👍👍

White? That sounds like coolant is getting into the oil... head gasket?

@@LMAutoRepairs no water getting in I replaced car with engine block that had water in it. I repaired it and its old mark inside it. I been told few oil changes will turn colour right pal.

alignment cost probably more than absorber he could change 2 absorbers and 2 top mounts and then go to alignment

Oh dearwhats wrong with people that rubber boot will protect the shock false economy not to replace. Bet they didn't get alignment dome either good fix as always
