I just can't get over your channel. I'm a disabled Vet. I get real upset because when the pain starts to affect me I have to stop what I'm doing. I generally relax and search KZfaq for DYI and hacks on projects. I came across your channel the other day, this is about the third segment I've watched. I just love this channel. These projects you do are absolutely amazing and you are a very good teacher/speaker. You're the first channel I want to watch. Its very relaxing. Thanks for the healing process and and frustration management!! :-) You and Stone Coat Countertops staff are Awesome!!!

I love your videos and I can't wait to watch them when I get a new email!! I've done several pieces of my own and we're getting ready to do my daughter's counter tops. One thing that I happened on while working on a small table top is that if you do happen to get a few drips, you can go back and hit them with a heat gun and a scraper. It just peals right off. It's a lot easier than sanding and not as messy. I'm sure you already know this but, I thought it was worth passing along. Keep up the good work. You guys inspire us!!

Very cool tips. :) I would love to do my counters over. I would use tape (painters/masking etc.) on the underside so I wouldn't have to worry about drips. I use that method when making resin art so I won't have to watch or sand the drips off the canvas later. I don't have to monitor it but I do have to remove the tape when it gets to the gel stage/the drips stop. If I wait for the resin to fully cure the tape is super hard to take off but not hard at all at the gel stage. :D - Heidi

@jaykneegarner2479
@jaykneegarner2479 6 жыл бұрын
Newpj58 that was answered in the video! No the sink does not have to come out. You can carefully mask off the sink while you apply the epoxy but the masking tape has to come off before the epoxy fully sets. You will get better results if you do remove the sink. Plus if you were to decide to change your sink out to a different profile sink later on. If it were poured without removing the sink you could end up with the old countertop showing through if the sink were not a perfect fit. You eliminate that issue by removing the sink prior to starting the epoxying process.

You can definitely do this yourself. I did my countertops and they came out beautiful and it was exactly the color and look I wanted. I get compliments by every single person that has seen my countertops and can’t believe that I did them by myself I might add. I covered all my floors which at the time were brand new and my cabinets in 3 ml plastic I didn’t use the paper and nothing was damaged. The one thing they don’t really stress is don’t leave any lights on while the epoxy is drying because it attracts bugs and the bugs will get stuck in the epoxy. Good luck. You got this👍

In a video I watched previously you stated something about preventing it from feeling sticky....so my question is kitchens are always hot is there something that is put on the epoxy/resin that will prevent the heat from making it sticky or become gooey again? Also what if a child learning to cook accidentally places something hot on the surface will it melt into a gooey mess? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Great question Dragonfly Goddess! Stone Coat Countertop epoxy is durable. You can set hot pots and pans directly on the surface; however, just as any countertop surface, we suggest you still use hot pads, as it's nonporous and food safe. You can clean with normal household countertop cleaners, but soap and water generally does the trick. Not much will damage the surface as far as spills and stains, but it's good to clean up spills after you're finished cooking and using your tops to prep. It takes three days for light use, seven days for cure and thirty days to a full cure where our durability video tests are shown at. Here is a link to our durability video showing what Stone Coat Countertops can take, we have tested up to 475 degrees Fahrenheit. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7KFp8ia2767kYE.html Thank you and feel free to contact us anytime! What about being wet all the time? What about using some type of texture to prevent say a slip if you did this on a concrete floor? Is there something that can be done/used to create that texture that does not stick/adhere to the resin? Thank you in advance.

American 69 I believe a chopping block would be in order, you also wouldn’t put a hot pan on it. Treat it like you would any other counter top

They have a new invention called a cutting board and they can be picked up at home improvement stores or places like Bed Bath and beyond. A knife on the epoxy will scratch and gouge the surface and will not make a quality knife keep it's edge long. Cheep knives will dull quickly. Epoxy is a harder surface than the plastic or wood cutting boards but softer than glass. Never ever ever ever use real stone or glass cutting boards they are knife killing machines ( the dark siths of cutting boards ). You can buy them and I have no idea why they are even sold!? A nice bamboo cutting board or the plastic ones will last for many years maybe a life time and cost next to nothing. They save time ( sharpening knives ) and clean up quick. Plus you aren't going to be spreading chicken juice ( samanila) on the counter. My wife has been a commercial cook for 30 years and nearly lost her mind when we first got together when I tried using the counter for cutting up chicken. I was BANNED from kitchen for awhile so she could sanitize the counter........My bad! Please don't take my starting comment as snarky it's a light hearted joke from Captain Obvious my alter ego!!
