Renovating a Cheap Pizza Oven into a Mosaic Masterpiece

This week we refurbished a much loved and very tired pizza oven for a customer. This pizza oven has had a lot of previous work done to it but despite that, just would not get up to the temperature.
We started by taking off the old render and unearthed a series of cracks and holes - causing the heat to escape and stopping the oven getting warm.

We have a pizza oven like this and was exactly the same problem. Thanks to your informative video we completely took it back to the brick and insulated and rendered like you did. We have just finished putting a Mosaic on it. We fired the oven last week and what a difference the pizza was . Thank you again

Brilliant informative vid I’m looking at doing similar I have same model not as bad to start what are the nails just masonry nails and anything special about the grout thanks

Wow Beuatiful! What kind of gasburner was installed in that oven? I assume it was a personal tweak to the original oven? Miht be a great idea to convert my woodoven into gas as well........

The gas burner is from Avanzini Domestic and whilst it is quite expensive, it just take a lot of effort out of using wood.

We got our tiles from a local tile retailer call Al -Murad in Doncaster

What is the material used for grouting ?

We used Vitcas heat resistant tile grout

Do we need to remove the old render or I can put the fire blanket and plaster it ? Thank you

We removed the render on ours as it was very loose and made of poor material, and I am guessing that adding the layer of fire insulation to the outside would not help get the oven up to temperature quicker as it has to heat up more layers first.
