Thank you so much for making time to watch. This week I'm updating you on all the renovations happening in every room of the house. I'm in my ninth month of pregnancy and Guido and I are both exhausted but excited that things are really moving forward with all the renovations. Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.
Please don't follow me on Facebook as that person is not me - they have stolen my identity for the past few years. Kylie, I say this as an Italian born and bred woman, wife and mother, married to an Italian man for decades. With all due respect to Guido, whom you rightly adore, you really have to insist sometimes and say no, sometimes for your own well-being, that of your marriage, and in the future of your husband. When you're a hard-working, competent and uncomplaining woman, one's spouse can sometimes just assume that you are wonder woman and can do anything. No one can, and it's unfair to expect it. No woman who is nine months pregnant should be scrubbing away construction dust from a guest room and kitchen and then trying to cook for guests! What if your parents weren't there? Even with them there, you overdid. The guests can stay in an agriturismo, even if it's forty-five minutes away, and take "you" to dinner, or come next year. When you feel pain in your pelvis your body is telling you something; it's telling you to rest. The most important thing is that baby you're carrying, and some adjustments should be made as to who is doing what. It's best to get that settled now, because once the baby arrives, he will come first, which is another thing which requires some adjustments in a marriage. I don't want to sound like a know it all or to tell you how to manage your marriage. I'm just trying to share what little wisdom I, who was and is much like you, have gained along the way.

I agree many men think us women can be on our feet sun up to sun down. At this point sheshould be doing very little and he can be cooking serving her the food. Her feet should be up. no offense Guido but your wife needs you to do much more for her over the next few months. She's going to be very exhausted. Italy inmy opinion is still a very sexist culture. Kylie stop and rest and do very little right now. Stop overdoing it. Your baby is coming soon .....REST. When your baby comes, all you should be doing is focusing on you and the baby, spending lots of time just being with the baby slow paced calm, with lots of calm,rest and doing very little. Guests should book somewhere take care of themselves their meals.its too much for you to be trying to play HOST x

Totally agree. As a wonder woman married to a Frenchman, doing everything emasculates men eventually and Wonder Woman becomes a secretly bitter and resentful person because now she is expected to do it all. Take care of emergencies, etc.

No disrespect to Guido, but he is the man in your relationship and he should be the one taking care of you and the baby. Stay behind in Florence and prepare for your delivery. Make us videos from your routine in the city. If necessary, stop construction for a few months, or let Guido do it on his own until you can join him again in the renovation. You and the baby are the priority right now, and you are the only one able to keep this priority in place. Best wishes for you all!

Personally, I would leave the beams rustic for a while and then, if you decide you’d rather have white, you can always paint later. If you paint now and wish you had left it, you’d have to strip all that off later. I’m biased tho because I love a rustic look and I love natural wood.

I so agree. Leave it rustic for now. 💕

Totally agree! Also, I prefer limewashed to painted white with full coveraged, it looks much nicer on an antique original beamed ceiling allowing all the charm but giving just a chalky transparent layer of white through which the natural materials textures shine through. That can be done later at will. I'd definately cut corners by doing any tiling myself. Tiling is a much easier job than many think, they could totally do that bit themselves.

Oh how my heart aches when beams are painted. Sometimes I even shed a tear and they're not even my beams. 🤣😂😅💯🙆🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️ Keep them natural keep them rustic. Nothing shows the beauty of age, and true history like pure wood. Oh the vibrations so beautiful. The echoes of energy that come from them. Don't break the cast or spell. Leave it as nature intended.

Many of us have to learn how to say “no“. For some it’s easier than others, but in order to maintain sanity in perspective in certain situations, it is necessary. When you are dealing with pregnancy and a major renovation, commuting and dealing with substandard supply chain issues to mention just a very few if your challenges, at some point you’re going to need to learn to just hold to what is necessary. When you have a baby in a young child, you will have to prioritize. You will have to learn to say “sorry, but I can’t deal with that right now“ A baby and your health needs to be put absolutely first, Above all!
@lauratohome
@lauratohome Жыл бұрын
Yes she will learn to say no sooner or suffer the consequences, a hard birth and medical problems after the birth could happen, she needs to slow down, she has been doing for everyone and filming and editing.irreversible harm might be done by pushing to hard.small baby, weak baby.she needs to rest more.

Hi Kylie I love you ! Please take care of yourself too. Dont make excuses for your partner ( I can see he is lovely , I mean that in the best way) but it seems as if he is taking up alot of emotional space ( even stress is an emotion) and it is not allowing you to have the space to get out of survival mode and " feel" your own emotions before the baby comes as well. You are a light ! You nuture and acknowledge everyone around you. You deserve thr same! Everything a mother goes through physically or emotionally , the baby will go through as well. Take up space and let others nuture you! Love you

Kylie you are amazing and so tolerate. I'm not sure I would have been OK with my husband going off for a break with his friends after expecting you to put up his friends during this renovation..cook clean etc..you are nine months pregnant and you should be the one having a break and resting not managing his man tantrums and dealing with the builders and putting his friends up. I hope he realizes how lucky he is to have you. I have been married 35 years and started married life much the same as you have being loving and kind tolerate and understanding. I have realized along the way that you must take time for yourself and that might mean disappointing people along the way..too bad..men can be selfish it's in their nature. Perhaps going back to Florence and resting there to prepare for the birth and more importantly what come after the birth would be a good idea. I'm sure after your husband's break with his friends he can deal with the builders now and anything that comes with it. You and your baby are the priority now Kylie and he should know that..thank you for the incredible films you make. We are raising our grandson who has ADHD and has behavioral issues and I look forward so much to your videos every week as a way to escape the stress even for a little while..blessings to you and your baby and your wonderful supportive parents..xox love from New Zealand

Kylie, you have beautiful videos and I enjoy watching them. However, for the sake and health of you and the baby, please start saying NO! No to guests, tell the arguing builders to stop it, and stop trying to please everybody. You and the baby are what's most important right now. High levels of stress during pregnancy can cause problems for the baby in the future, I had that experience with my son 26 years ago. Please take care of you first. I know you love cooking, but the builders may need to work out some other arrangement for their food. It's nice that your parents were there to help! Blessings and rest during this birthing journey!

it was probably offered way before the baby. 🤷‍♀ I would of had them working, gardening, painting, cooking etc.. its not a time for Kylie to be a host tho.. her Wonder Woman in her hasn't been hit with the ton of bricks from exhaustion, she will learn to say no... and only for the right reasons.. especially when babies get sick or teething.. this time needs to be devoted 24-7.. you will be lucky to shower sometimes.. and hubby has to wait or fend for himself sometimes.. im sure he can cook.. Kylie will need to swap some things up too some nights. Doesn't she look gorgeous pregnant tho.. 💜🌸

@Laura Teague Think it's than about just manners. More like they have poor boundaries, and low emotional intelligence otherwise they'd empathise with Kylie's situation about how challenging, demanding it can be to renovate your home, be 9 months pregnant AND have house guests! Guido needed to be more empathic and sensitive to Kylie's initial response when he reminded her about his friends coming to visit - then tell his friends from UK that it wasn't a good time.

I suggest you stay in Florence now and let Guido deal with the renovations and long commute. If you can't just rest and need to do something, you can quietly shop for the items you need, but should be away from the construction chaos and dust. Breathing in that construction dust is not good for you or the baby. I love watching your videos and respect you and Guido very much!

I'm breastfeeding my 9th baby and you don't need a fancy chair. I bought a rocking chair years ago and it's become where I stack blankets or throw a robe. Never worked out for me. I think a good, supportive breastfeeding pillow is very useful in those early months when your baby is still small. Don't know your height, but a very small footstool can be helpful for you so you're comfortable and not slouching, hurting your back. I've always breastfed in my room, crib is in my room, my husband and me both agree on this though. My babies often end up in bed with me because nursing on my side is very comfortable imo. It helps my babies fall right to sleep. Remember, the longer they wake up during the night and the harder they cry, the longer it will take to calm them down and put them back to bed. Every mom has a different opinion on where their baby should sleep, same room, separate room, crib, bassinet, side car sleeper, or bringing baby to bed in a safe way. Because we have several children my husband has often slept in another room with a fussy toddler and that just has to happen at times. And that's ok. We're all better people when we're not tired the next day. And honestly, the way he snores, he would often wake our babies up. After a certain age they don't seem to notice the noise. lol.

I could see the look in your eyes of love for him (yet possibly wanting to throttle him and shout “you do all this 9 months pregnant”) … it’s a skill in itself. I have always had to work on my being calm and the sensible Head to balance out his more…. Emotional side. Having children is such a blessing we have one wonderful son called Rocco. I love that you have shared some of the more tumultuous moments in your relationship. I really hope that Guido actually watches your last recount…. I also hope that he gave the builders a good telling off for ruining your chocolate cake… funny in hindsight yes in the moment a bit crushing. I would have been furious but of course you can't have a fight with them for fear they would walk out on the job. And, I can't believe your guests would insist on coming at such a chaotic time. How inconsiderate. If they were there to help that's a different story. But you cooking for all these people is outrageous. The tiles for the bathroom will look great. Nice to meet you, Kylee, and wow, you've had quite a time! You are a brave and gracious soul, but many times that opens the door to be taken advantage of by the selfishness of others, which if not responded to very wisely it will bring much derper sorrow in times to come. I did read down through several comments, so that's all I'll say since many addresses that quite thoroughly. What I DID want to mention though is about the chair for your room or nursery. Having breastfed 4 babies, the arms on the chair are VERY helpful for support. But have you thought of a ROCKING CHAIR, rather than just an armchair? Here in the States we wouldn't do without our rocking chairs to feed and soothe our babies! It's very relaxing to the Mommy as well! Hopefully they have Rocking Chairs there! All the best to you on your huge project! I will try to remember to pray for you!

Evening or morning co-sleeping is a very natural way to bring up children. It makes them feel safe and loved. Also look at how babies were always held and carried by mothers strapped against their bodies. This practice sadly has been frowned upon in our modern world 😢 Well balanced children are those that have been held, cuddled and often slept with their parents in the early stages of their lives. You should always follow your heart and my comment just gives you and Guidò something to think about ❤ 🙏❤️

I agree! Some years ago I worked on a maternity ward. The native women kept their babies with them at all times and slept with them as well, putting them on the breast as soon as their babies became disgruntled. The mothers were well rested as they fell back asleep quickly, as did their babies. I was interested to note that their babies were very relaxed and very rarely cried. In fact the native women didn’t like to share a room with white women, not because of colour but because their babies ‘cried too much’’ and disturbed their sleep. 🤣

Oh Kylie you made me laugh describing how different you and Guido are. Just like my husband and I. He is Brazilian. We renovated with a newborn. Like you we didn't plan it but that was when the good builders were available. I am wondering if Guido is like my husband. He loves entertaining friends but doesn't worry about the state of things in the house. But I am like you and must prepare a bedroom and make food. I want people to enjoy the experience as much as possible. It is tough with a social butterfly partner 😂🦋

Kylie, thank you for the video. The words about staying calm while your partner is having a meltdown resonates with me so much. The last months we are experiencing one of the most difficult periods of our lives, and to me as the mentally stronger one - it's just very difficult to stay clam and find peace while my husband is having a meltdown- it's just difficult. I'm sure people understand that you don't need to should show on youtube arguments and such. Much love.

Ciao Kylie. I am enjoying your videos. I see you have a Patreon page for supporting your work. Lately I have been seeing people with You Tube videos have a “Thanks” button right under their videos for those who want to say thanks financially for allowing us into your life. I think more people would think of contributing to your channel if they saw this on your page. Keep up the great work but hope you can get some rest!

My first child- I had a small rocking chair in my bedroom and got out of bed for each feeding. My second child, I co-slept for the first couple of months then transitioned. The main thing is to do what feels comfortable to you. Don't listen to what you "should" do, that is the only time I've not been happy with my choices. Do what feels right for you! I do recommend a bed in the nursery, along with the crib, for you to sleep if your child is sick or fussy. That way, at least someone will get sleep. Thank you for sharing your life with us!

Oh one more thing. I watch a channel where a former designer i France did a collab with her local potter and painted her own tile from her own design beautifully. The easiest cheapest way is to use cheap bisque fired terracotta tiles (a potter can tell you which ones) then you simply glaze and use over or underglaze and paint (or oxides and water). You are good with a paintbrush, you'd 100% make beautiful tiles and if you can find a local potter I'm sure it wouldn't cost you alot to glaze and fire them if they agree (usually just a question of having space and time for a firing). I used to have a workshop, it's nontoxic and easy and ALOT less expensive than your Sicilian tiles. And if you like it you may be able to do all your kitchen tiles! It would be a gorgeous memory of this time in your lives, and save money! Italy has loads of potters and majolika workshops, go for it!

I'm for the white beams for the room to feel light and airy!!! Just find the right shade of white one that is not too cool toned! Maybe a more creamy warm white? That is a whole other thing as someone who has painted their apartment recently their are endless variations of the paint "white" lol Take care of yourself Kylie it's ok to say no to people especially in your condition. My baby is 7 months now and it was quite an adjustment. Only now I'm starting to feel a bit more normal 🙃 but in the beginning I had to say no to a lot of visitors who wanted to visit the baby when she was just born I was too overwhelmed but slowly started inviting people on my terms to come visit when I felt that I could handle it. Don't be too hard on yourself most important is your health and your sanity and of course your family and baby! Love the reno videos so excited for this final push to see it come together! Also for breastfeeding I would recommend getting a very good supportive breastfeeding pillow! You can sit in any somewhat comfortable chair, couch, bed and the breastfeeding pillow helps with supporting your arms and baby. In the beginning breastfeeding took over my life and that is my top baby item I believe would be the most helpful!

Well done - you are doing so, so well. And Guido is learning to be a husband and father - it seems to take a little longer when it doesn’t affect you so directly/physically but he will get there. You may have to start telling him how he can help you - not with the fear that it will make him feel awful or more burdened but to let him know before you are too frazzled to communicate it in the moment you need it most. Finding a common code word to let each other know without confrontation could be useful. Hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way. Been through similar renovations etc. too so I am ‘laughing’ with you. xo

While I'm generally a traditionalist when it comes to houses and usually prefer to take them back to how they originally were, I have to admit that after the hundreds of real estate videos I've watched on homes for sale around Italy (yes, I am hoping to move back), I have actually come to appreciate the white beams and tiles in most that I've seen. It does tend to lighten up the old farmhouses quite a bit, and give rooms a more spacious feel because of the height of the ceiling it tends to accentuate. And, from what I'm hearing, it also tends to keep the rooms cooler in those hot months when you have to close the window for the air conditioning, and helps keep the cost of that down, as well.

Your story of Guido’s irritability, it’s normal. Married to Italian for 29 years before I lost him 8 years ago. I know exactly what you are talking about . I’m from Indonesia, and by fate, I’ve been back living here in Jakarta in my beautiful Balinese villa ALONE! People wonder why I don’t even have a partner. Enough for me. Am beyond grateful in life and now I live with serenity. Doesn’t mean at times there’s no problem especially in maintaining this villa - financial wise -but c’est la vie. I don’t have children though with my Italian husband. Chin up!! You’re doing fantastically!! OMG sorry about the chocolate cake. I would have blown up!! Angry, that is!! Wow! You’re so good!

We used medium weight slightly open weave linen curtains instead of wardrobe doors (helps with airflow in summer 🥰 because built in wardrobes become mould traps in humid summer climates. The wardrobe cavity doesn’t allow the moist air to escape). We live in Queensland and trust me you want a wardrobe that breathes 🙏🙏🙏 Otherwise you end up with mouldy leather shoes, borsette etc 😢 The softness of the linen curtains added a beautiful element to the decor and we still love them! When it’s time to wash them just throw them in the washing machine and reduce the spin speed to about 700rpm or less. No nasty creases, just pull the linen and hang over railing until dry (no need for ironing!).
