Haven't finished watching yet, but i can't stress from someone whose family has owned bars their whole life - NO BOTTLES (Beer or Soda) If some drunk throws a bottle on the track it is much different then throwing a can on the track. You can get plastic single serbe wine bottles as well. Recycling aluminum and plastic is so much easier as well

An idea for a concession stand could be "Leroy's Lemonade" Sell foot long hot dogs, and call it a "Freedom Frank Footer" Call the merch stand "The Merch Perch" The concession stand with seating could be "The Pit Stop" Have a special to honor Mike since he was helping out with the concession stands, and call it "The Mike Special" Burger, Large Fry's, and a Large Drink. Why? Because its a tall order. Finally, hang a sign at the exit gate that says "Thanks for visiting. We'll frickin' see you later" Take one. Take em all. Or don't. Just throwing around some ideas to see what might stick. Good luck with everything!

Removing the “bag in box” drink system is a terrible idea financially. It’s by far the most profitable product in the industry.. also, Coca Cola and Dr. pepper both send the owner of the business/track a quarterly sales reimbursement check that is big money.. as for the “half wall” I’d consider installing a glass pane garage door so you have the versatility to choose “open air” or closed from the elements.. they also are made in much smaller sizes that would be ideal for your ticket sales booth. If the hand painted “Bud” sign is available, I’d be an interested buyer for my showroom

Beat me by a day, I just posted the same thing about the bag in box system. While it's simple to grab pre portioned drinks, the profit makes the extra labor worth it.

Those bags are pennies, and the cO2 is nickels. The cups an straws will cost more. Pepsi and coke also supplies the fountains for a commission or lease deal. Dont spend 2$ a case for cans.

@@SirDavothe2 the equipment is supplied by the company and there is literally 0 maintenance. I’ve had the current system in my restaurant for 15 years and I’ve had one CO2 pump failure and 4 syrup pump failures in that time frame. Also, any repairs needed are deducted from your quarterly incentive check only if you go over a “repair allowance”

In my humble opinion, you may want to rethink your cans vs cups decision. Cans may seem more convenient but they are bulky. Plus, the profit margins on fountain drinks are much higher than cans. Think how cool it would be to sell $5 plastic souvenir cups with the Freedom Factory logo emblazoned on the side, then get another $1 for a refill of soda that cost you a dime.

First off, never put any type of service station in the main pathway, aka the walkway out to the bleachers. This will bottleneck the whole flow of people and cause issues, I know it sounds great but there is a reason why it was not done that way before. I would not sell any of the "junk" you have in that caged area until you know for sure that it either A) does not work or B) you will not need it for any product your selling or C) It is not able to be broken down for parts for things you are keeping already. I would get all the shops down to base level, and think out what you are selling out of each room. From there you build a list of what you need to sell X product and from there you can better setup a floor plan before building anything wild.

We should put a joint list of what to do. My background is firefighter, construction, and beverage sales. I spent 12 yrs working for a construction contractor, and had 3 years of design, and construction schooling, Fire Service is 21yrs with 4 years of EMS, Then I spent 3 years in beverages sales for Pepsi cola bottling, and a local Pepsi distributor here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I will be sending a detailed email to him to try helping him spend money wisely on the Construction and about getting those concessions stands manned. I plan on recommending he put he will not supply the taps or refrigeration for kegs or cold drinks at counters allow the companies who do the concessions to be responsible for those items because they break down or need maintenance regularly. But he also needs to set bars up to be able to raise those refrigeration units off the concrete 3 inches so any water under them can flow to the drainage areas.

Couple thoughts (take 'em or leave 'em). A Bar that close to the entryway by the bleachers may make a bottleneck for people waiting for the bar vs. people trying to get in or out. They'll just stand there in a huddled mass instead of coming into the bar area, may want a waiting line. I agree with the comment that canned beer (and maybe even sodas) may be better because you can have people put them into recycling and you can get money back for the aluminum. Plus to the point of needing keg service, you'll need to watch your soda dispensers for mold or run the lines more often with your heat. Don't want broken glass that you'll have to clean up, cans are easier. Nice video, man.

@@Llama052 that’s probably very true. I think I may be leaning on “least amount of maintenance as possible” since he’s going to have to deal with health inspectors. Less places for mold or violations, the more they’ll save. But your probably right. The trade off is more than likely cheaper overall and can make enough to cover any issues that may have with money to spare.

I wish I lived closer and had my GC already. I’d definitely help out. As someone who has been building stuff since I was a kid, building stuff and renovations are my forte. When you replace the wall panels you should look at using treated 2x4s for your framing and look into hardy siding (fiber cement) 4’x8’ panels. Hardy siding panels will not rot as they’re made out of fiber reinforced concrete essentially. It is a pain to nail through by hand but if you get a siding nail gun and some 1.5” - 2” coiled stainless siding nails, you’re golden. The hardy panels will also work on the ceiling. Caulk all the joints and paint whatever color you want. We use hardy out here in Pensacola when we build houses on the beach. It stands up to a lot of abuse. Don’t use any metal. Eventually it will start to rust, it will be loud if anything hits it like rain, and not to mention it will pick up the vibrations of sound.

I’ve worked professional security, and managed events at the busiest sporting arena in the US. There’s a lot of stuff you gotta consider from a life safety side, and a beverage serving side! Happy to give some feedback for free. But pleaseeeee stay away from bottles/cans to serve. They end up as projectiles, and major hazards. Serve in plastic cups/paper cups. Don’t set up concessions with servicing from that other bar top.. you’ll create a bottleneck and potentially block emergency ingress/egress. Again, I’m happy to provide feedback free of charge (or send a t-shirt 😬)

@@1992djg no taps i dont think. Too much time between events and beer lines get nasty and require too much cleaning from sitting unused for periods of time. Cans are lighter and easier to store and chill than bottles. If draft beer is used later, use single or double kegerators at each location so the lines are short and easily cleaned. Keg beer makes you more money too.

Around my area the beer distributor will drop off a enclosed trailer with taps on the side. I think they have 4 taps. All the equipment is rented for the day. All you need is a fold up table and a pop up tent.

I had a thought, the walls on the concession stand facing the track, PROBABLY act as sound deadening, so your people can hear and take orders. I don't know how well it will play out removing those walls under the bleachers.

I _think_ they're planning on replacing them and I'm pretty sure you're right about the sound deadening.Hmm, replace them with double layer walls. Outer layer (under the stands) corrugated metal like some they tore down. Then a 1" spacer with an inner wall of quarter inch plywood. Fill the gap with CLOSED cell spray foam.

When rebuilding all the walls and ceilings I’d highly recommend ribbed steel (roofing) as it is easy to put up and clean over time. Very cost effective and solid over time.

I would recommend not changing the bar shape to serve drinks into the walkway to the bleachers. I can see that getting packed with people and others not being able to get to their seat after getting food or drinks from around the corner. I don't know exactly how it's laid out so I could be worried about nothing. Either way, good to see you guys making the dream come true! Stay safe, and Merry Christmas

I'm a C6 quadriplegic Army vet I'm going to need a wheelchair accessible spot with overhead cover for protection from the sun because I can't sweat so I can overheat. I was having similar thoughts on shade while they were talking about the 'bar' areas. (I can't take much sun for less-spectacular reasons, kind of a lupus thing, so often at outdoor events I'll be having a beer with everyone else that's under cover for various reasons, that's usually a pretty good time. Often older folks with stories, or whatnot. :) )

Ideas for Tabletops: Cover in bottlecaps and coat/float/polish urethane. Can do sponsors/catalogs/merch under poly coat would look nice. Ok, you need a signature food item! And I think it should be “Freedom Fries”, huge and thick cut. You could have ketchup (Red), Mayo (White), and serve it with blue napkins. Then figure out a good seasoning, that can be mixed and be kept on outside tables, in shakers. You could use bacon flavored salt. Instead of compensation for this awesome idea.... I would love a ride in Leroy.

Seeing the walls come down I can definitely see a need for a different style of bottom plate for the walls. Both to keep water from driving into the buildings and rotting them out. Off the top of my head you guys can pour concrete curbs for the bottom plates to sit on which will 100% block the water. Or try a combination of PT bottom plates, sealant and flashing to seal and deflect from water.

I was thinking the same thing. Stump aways in the front. The wind will blow right back the limbs being bent that way. If you have the top of the tree to the front it will have drag trying to blow the limbs back. The good thing is that they have it wrapped to help keep it from doing so.

When I was at Spa to watch a F1 race, they were really strict with the "no glass inside" ... they confiscated everything made out of glass. Plastic bottles and metal cans were allowed. But I suppose, if one bad egg throws a glass bottle or something out on track it can be really bad for the drivers and race as a whole. (They really liked mayonaise in Spa-Francorchamps, there was a mountain of mayo-jars, vodka bottles, and beer bottles behind the entrance to the track)

Used to go for the 1000 kms Group C sports car race years ago and as it was a long event we had enough time to walk all the way around the circuit,..The best part were the conveniently located wooden huts that serves beer and frites (in mayo)!!

Can’t wait to be a patron! One thing though I get doing beer in only cans but sodas I would leave the fountain system. That way you can up charge for souvenir cups that people can take home along with regular paper cups. When someone’s thirsty a can just don’t quench the thirst.

As far as the bar top idea, if you’re interested I’ve been collecting beer bottle caps for a few years with the intention of putting them under the epoxy to make a custom bar top in my man cave. Caps are from Fl, Ga, Sc, Nc, Nm, Tx and various National/regional/international breweries. I believe I have about four gallons of caps saved up. While I’ve been saving them for my dream kegerator/bar top, if were being honest that’s still years away and the Freedom Factory is right now. If You’re interested let me know, between my bottle caps and whatever other cool things you toss in, I think you could make a cool bar top without it all being the same stuff.

Being an AC guy, I’m not surprised the AC works. The guy installing them was definitely super excited to be working at a race track, that’s going to be quality work.
