What do you do when you have to match your old orange wood stairs to your new grey floors? I'm refinishing my stair treads in this staircase makeover, along with a fun wavy accent wall. We're staining the stairs, refinishing the risers, painting the stair rails and newel posts IN THE ENTIRE HOUSE.

Relate to the "slowest contractor" bit so much 😆 appreciate your honesty. We have full-time jobs plus school-going kids, and our reno's often feel like it's taking so long - sometimes diy, some contracted jobs. Nice to hear about honest experiences, especially learning curves and challenges found along the way.

There are some good primers that you can then paint over existing oil based paint to allow you to paint on new water based paints over them.

If you don’t want bleeding you first paint with the basecolor over your tape and then if there is bleeding you don’t see it and the basecolor already seales the tape. Then you paint with the other color the swirls and you will have crisp lines

I'm so excited to see the finish product, I'm so happy your adding your mark to the place, don't stress about the next owners, chances are they'll want to paint no matter what you end up doing. This was a LOT of work, so many new skills you should be very proud of yourself madam. What's the extension tool you used while sanding?
@letitiakiu
@letitiakiu 2 жыл бұрын
The sander is hooked up to the shop vac (with gorilla tape lol need to buy an adaptor) and the air compressor!

Just curious why you didn't use Pink Drywall Repair stuff already mixed ready to apply from the handy dandy tub. It dries so far and Sands down without chipping and falling apart?
@letitiakiu
@letitiakiu 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if they're the same thing, but both can be used to patch small holes! The pink drywall repair usually comes in smaller tubs and we just bought the powder one to be more economical and so we won't have it dry out on us vs the pre-mixed. The only thing is that you don't see it change colour as it dries!
@upcycledcopycat8389
@upcycledcopycat8389 2 жыл бұрын
@@letitiakiu ... It really doesn't dry out...I have a tub that lasts me years. I like it because it sands off without chipping on outside corners etc. I just find it handier. Love your series
