These Calor gas heaters are very good at pumping out heat, but they are very good at putting condensation into the room. The management agent warned us that the rate is 1litre of water per hour at full power. They do need to have decent ventilation, my flat is in a Victorian property which suffers from condensation related mould issues, so we got rid of ours quick,. Victorian properties are often designed for being ventilated by chimneys, and a modern equivilent is needed if you have modern heating.

@@simonholley4110 That's a good point and when we used one in our old farmhouse as a means of instant heating we noticed a lot of condensation and eventually got rid of the heater and reverted back to open fires.

Hi there! For starters decide whether you want to save to buy or borrow to buy. Because this will need to be sorted early on. Once you’ve that figured out it’s a matter of choosing an area that has affordable houses.

I got a multi fuel stove put into my house recently. I had a chimney, hearth stone etc all ready and thought I was the bees knees getting this BEAUTIFUL second hand stove (delivered!!) for €200. Done deal is an amazing thing. However, The cost of lining the chimney, the flue and all the other installation bits nearly floored me though...Approx €1000 I think. And there were two skilled men working all day to do the job so taking away the cost of the equipment I don’t see that it could have been done for less. I have a wood pellet stove which was more expensive for the machine (also second hand 😁) but installation was really simple and the builder had it done in no time. If I had to pick between them, for what turned out to be similar enough costs, wood pellet stove all the way!

@@duncands9172 sure! i think thats a super idea. theyre more efficient than an open fireplace because the heat doesnt simply go up the chimney, so in that respect they are a great idea. i decided to put a multifuel stove in one of my fireplaces (the large inglenook in the sitting room) and keep the open fire in the other one (in my kitchen). We installed the stove ourselves and it wasnt too complicated at all. hope this helps xx
