In this video, I'm taking you through planning, designing and building custom LEGO modulars. I want my LEGO city to eventually be filled with custom builds, instead of sticking to official sets. I'll give you a step by step how-to of the entire process so you can get to building as well! Besides the full modular, I'm also customising the Assembly Square and I'll be adding the Police Station to my city.
If you want the Studio files or instructions, consider becoming a KZfaq member!

Lego is expensive in both time, money, and space used. I remember when I first got back into it and heard people say that they r out of space but me with my piddly lil collection thought "oh that won't happen to me cause I will never amass that amount of parts"... Well, I was wrong. But its worth it😂

Expensive in space used! Yes!! I got back into Lego a couple years ago and as of this year… my collection is too big I don’t really have space for it 😭 but I don’t wanna get rid of the bulk cuz I make a lot of MOCs

@@Junk_Draw3r lmao exactly. I had to go from it being stored in a closet, to being stored in a closet and bedroom, to having to move the office downstairs and the bedroom to the office leaving the larger bedroom for the Lego which I can't complain cause it is badass but now that it's full, what am I to do?🤣

Hahahah! I had a LOT of Lego at home initially but had to bring everything to my office. My girlfriend didn't like the bookshelves being filled with Lego cause "where should I put all of my books?!" 😂

Great video! The quality of your videos is great and really makes me want to make a lego town of my own (already started a bit, but I don't have a lot of space yet). Also a video about your experience sourcing parts and ordering them would be really appreciated, I'm tempted to buy on bricklink but it's a bit daunting

Nice video. Agree on the cost vs effort part. Being Dutch too finding the cheapest way is not easy. Though if i really want a set i just find it in a discount. Bricklink order also add up a lot in cost. But to make your own building is indeed cooler

One way that you can decrease the price is to visit the Lego store occassionally and pick up several common and uncommon parts in bulk.

Thanks so much for this video! I appreciate it. I would like to hear a little more about size and scale... How high are typical walls per floor for a minifig modular, what's a minimum depth X width per room? What size do you like to make sidewalks? I wanna try making my own modulars, but it's hard! lol

Why do Lego retire sets when then are still very popular
@Imoutogetyou
@Imoutogetyou Ай бұрын
Imagine having to sort your own Lego collection and finding all the parts you need for a random set from 2009. Except you aren’t you, you are the Lego company. They can’t make everything all the time, and they can’t store enough bricks to supply old sets forever.
@renzo260
@renzo260 Ай бұрын
I bet this is exactly it. And you can generally source most of the parts from Lego anyways. If you're okay with not having a specific printed pieces that only came in one set, it's easy to replace

Your town hall is nice, no discussion there, but it does something, real Lego modulars don't do - it has a quite obviouse symmetrie. Although this honors the reference, it breaks the typical modular esthetic. I would have added a tower or something like that to one of the wings to break the symmetry. Otherwise very useful video, thank you!
@renzo260
@renzo260 Ай бұрын
That's actually very helpful feedback, thanks! When I was building it, I did feel like it was almost a little off but couldn't put my finger on it. I think making it not as symmetric could be nice indeed. I'll definitely make some changes down the line and keep this in mind!
