*UPDATE* - Reolink has troubleshoot my issue on responding to the notification and not opening the live view. It is a time sync issue. I synced the doorbells time to my phone when I initially set it up but when I added it to my NVR, which its time was off (late ~ 6 mins) it synced its time to my NVR. (I now have turned ON my NVR to automatically synced to the server). Now, when you respond to the notification, it will open up the live view.

I know of no other channel that renders such comprehensive reviews which enables all of us to actually arrive upon a decision on what to purchase.

You seem very knowledgeable and thorough with your testing. I purchased a reolink 8 camera with NVR system about 2 years ago and have been waiting for a doorbell. your videos were instrumental in my choice of brands. I am pleased with my system.

Awesome review! Might be my first doorbell camera. The 20 fps at night is great! Wish Reolink’s other cameras did a minimum 20fps at night.

This will go perfectly with my Reolink setup. I have their 36-channel NVR (RLN360 with 20 cams. I'll be able to ditch my Nest doorbell, which has been very good, but it's a subscription. On a side note, I gave up trying to use Blue Iris, as it is terrible with Reolink cams.

if it had the ability to tie into an existing chime like the other doorbells, it would be perfect. A downward facing package cam wouldnt be bad either.

If you intregrate this doorbell with Home Assistant you can make your own rich notifications, no subscription needed!!! I've ordered this doorbell, can't wait to get it.

Yes finally...I have a complete reolink NVR system in my house thanks to your videos and this is the last piece of the puzzle for it...I'm dumping my Eufy doorbell and indoor ptz camera since Linus tech found out they covertly send your pics and video to their cloud without your knowledge even when you aren't using their service (I use memory cards)

So I found the best setting is high quality and everything max out except for bandwidth, leave it at default 4096 kps rather than maxing out otherwise it starts to buffer if there is a lot of activity happening in front of the camera like my gardener working.

From your reviews, I know that I cannot use my existing chime doorbell and will probably have to use the chime that comes with the Reolink. My current Ring Pro doorbell came with a Ring Pro Power adapter that must be used for my chime doorbell to work. I'm wondering if using that adapter in conjunction with the Reolink doorbell would allow me to use my existing chime doorbell. Thanks again for your reviews!

Your reviews are great! I know you have experience with the Eufy also, so here is my question. Another reviewer said that install of the Eufy required, in addition to placing the jumper wire, replacement of some of the "guts" of the doorbell. He held up a part that looked like a transformer and that he said cost about $20. Does the Reolink require any modification to the existing doorbell other than adding the jumper wire?

Considering the Eufy scandal, if reolink can fix that notification to recording rather than live view issue, and get the chime to work when powered over POE then they might become the defacto contender for a local only smart doorbell

That's a pretty nice video doorbell. Luckily the rich notification can be done for free with Homeassistant.

Only because Eufy have yet to address the various security and privacy concerns that their customers have noted over the past few years despite having had the time to do so and that they appear to be software issues that they should be able to patch over the air. Reolink has a better reputation for actual security and protecting your privacy, mostly due to their history of providing wired solutions with local storage predating the wireless and cloud storage solutions. I still have a faint hope that Eufy might pull themselves together but as with many others, I'm reluctant to invest anymore in Eufy and are interested in alternatives.

Looks like Eufy and Reolink were top 2 in last video, but seems like Reolink is a better deal since it comes 4 cameras for a little less, any thoughts :D I am very indecisive haha

Based on an older video you made, I purchased the RLk8-410B4 system with two additional cams a few years ago and still working great. I have been looking into doorbell cams and figured i'd go with Reolink to match. My NVR is connected with Ethernet cable so I can view cams while away from home. If I buy this and install this doorbell the way you did, through wifi will it automatically appear on NVR? I just saw that my NVR is not new enough to support these doorbell functions. So, this would basically just work on my phone right?

I hope they come with a solar version. I have 5 solar wifi Reolink cameras, i have one in my back door and another on the front. I'm renting at a house and there isn't any wiring by the doors.

hi, as always you made a really nice video with good information, im a huge fan of reolink, i was waiting for so long for a reolink doorbell, i have around 12 reolinks around my home and a Laview One Halo wifi doorbell witch its fine works good, BUT,the reolink looks good but really suck the rich notification system, i say it because in my 4 year old Laview One Halo when someone ring i can receive a push notification AND in my cellphone the Laview Doorbell app open up and ring like an incoming video call that i can anwser or hang up, even if my phone its in black screen(idle/lock screen) and i dont have to pay extra for it. For example the notifications are nice but if you are in a noisy place, in a car, in the midle of a meeting or in the toilet or have your phone in your pocket you will never find out that there is someone ringing your doorbell because its only a lil nice softsound notification that can be missed because every crazy app send notifications like every time your girl/wife/boss text you for something important and you missed it, witch is stupid but when someone calls to you , you answer because its sounds a lot like hell and could be an emergency.... thats why reolink falls behind an 4 year old Laview doorbell reolink dissapoint me a lot with this , everthing else its the standar from other brands, another good thing its that they have in the wifi a rj45 conector witch its greate since maybe like me my home front door wals are like solid rock and have an iron fence witch makes wifi connections a mess

That audio quality is fantastic. Connection over ethernet wouldnt work for me, since the builders of my house left just enough space in the brick to let power wires come out. I would have to remove power and drill a way bigger hole to fit an ethernet cable thru. Did u see the news about Eufy? The major security holes, lies about privacy, etc.

So if you have the NVR and this echo system, you still need to subscribe to the cloud service to get cellphone notifications, or is it only rich notifications?

I don't want to be tied into the reolink eco system but looking at the specs this may have ONVIF for Blue Iris (POE version).

Good review, it answered some questions I had about these bells. I was very tempted to get one, however two points you've raised are making me think twice. 1: Use Alexa for chimes - I had just assumed that any smart doorbell would be able to do this, it is such a simple feature. I guess amazon only want their bells to be able to do this? (I currently have a Ring Pro) Could be able to rig something up with HomeAssistant. 2: Rich notifications - Are there any bells that do this without a subscription? Eufy look like they do. Again maybe rig something up with HomeAssistant, but will take some tinkering. I have tried mimicking this with my ring setup sending me a snapshot of a camera that covers my Driveway (As I can't access the ring camera from HomeAssistant unless I pay for a subsciption) However it is unreliable, and often too slow that whoever was there has gone. I was surprised to see an ethernet port on the wifi bell, that is a big + point as it means I could use the wifi one, and still have the option of hard wiring if I needed it. Also integration wit the NVR is another + I've been considering getting one, I have a few Reolink cameras, though not sure if the NVR supports them all.

Just wanted to add a thanks for your reviews, currently looking at adding a few cameras around the house (unfortunately due to some break-ins in the area!), and finding it difficult to choose between Eufy and Reolink. Currently have a Eufy doorbell, but the lack of 24/7 recordings is something of a bugbear (across almost all of their cameras it seems), along with missing the start of motion on some detection events (if someone walks past the camera quickly, it triggers the event but by the time it starts recording they've already gone), so the 6 sec pre-roll on this doorbell seems it will fix that problem? The Eufy system I was looking at was a floodlight cam + Outdoor cam pro (E210) for 24/7 recording for the front of the house/driveway, and a floodlight cam pro 2 to cover the rear garden (possibly with another E210). However, as an alternative (and partially based on this video ;)), I'm now considering a Reolink POE system with a Floodlight cam duo at the front and a trackmix + floodlight for the rear, along with replacing the doorbell with this wifi Reolink version How would you rate the quality between the options above (particularly at night) - how is the light on the trackmix in particular - would the additional floodlight actually be needed? Not sure if I'd be adding the NVR or just going with a POE switch and MicroSD cards to start with - would I be losing out on much functionality without the NVR?

The recording is pretty damn good and seems like it’s very smooth. Alexa just has me by the balls because I love the integration with my Alexa’s when someone presses the doorbell. I’m ready to switch to HomeKit but they have no assistants with displays. Man if they could integrate this system I’d buy immediately.

It works as you showed. The issue is, if you add it to the nvr, it doesn't work like this anymore, it's a dumb doorbell with a camera.

I've already got a Reolink CCTV system and just a Nest hello doorbell, the Nest doorbell is so slow, i'm thinking of switching to this reolink doorbell. It looks so much more responsive.

Will it play a constant live view on a tablet? I plan to use it as a substitute for a peep view on my front door. Is there much latency when connected to a strong 5 g network? My aqara G3camera on 5ghz has near 0 latency when viewing the camera feed in homekit - impressive.

Something worth mentioning I think: it will not work with all nvr ! I have one and if directly connected in POE, it acts only as a camera (with the chime though) and if I use it standalone with a Poe adapter then I cannot record on the nvr…

Just picked up the Wi-Fi version off Amazon. I've had it less than a month and already the wireless chime stopped working. Powers on but it no longer pairs to the door bell. Reset it a bunch of times and it still doesn't work. Reolink support responded through amazon and said they will send my a replacement chime. We'll see how that goes. I don't like the fact that it cant be used with my existing mechanical chime. Its not impossible.

Why the jumper on the old chime? Nothing in the instructions about it. I installed and haven’t seen a need. Thoughts?

Hello, I have a question for you, Can I add this doorbell camera via wi-fi to my 8-channel REOLINK NVR if I am currently using all 8 channels via ethernet? Is there a splitter or something I can do? Or do I need to purchase the 16-channel NVR? Thanks!

How do you hide/stop the motion detection status light from coming on? I want the alerts, but I don't want the doorbell to light up when someone passes in front the doorbell!

I added the doorbell Wi-Fi version into my cart on reolinks website on there. It said in red letters that model does not support rich notifications. I’m wondering if there’s something that changed between your video and now.

For less than $100 bucks the wifi version might be worth it. On Eufy you can choose to go to live view and it announces on Alexa. Maybe you can change the setting. You should test with an ethernet cable how reliable and fast it is. I found with wifi it may work well initially but in the long run you may see some hiccups.

Have you set up the PoE Reolink doorbell yet? If yes, does the PoE version respond faster than the wifi version? Thank you for your help.
