Much appreciated! I'm fortunate to be able to have my truck parked within about 20 ft of my bedroom window so I can hear when anything's happening to it (or so I like to believe.) Vehicle break-ins and outright thefts are way up in my area, and yes, thieves suck big time.

Mine also had a latch on the vertical center post that locked the sliding window in place when it was closed. I just deleted that whole center post and put a solid piece of plastic in

I used 1/4" 6061 T6. I sourced a rectangle of it from a local metals place and cut it the size of shape. It was pricey, but still much cheaper than replacement glass from the manufacturer, and absolutely more durable.

Great question. I thought about doing that on my side windows but decided that - for my use case - the benwfit wasn't worth the effort. However, the hinge installed on the factory glass door at the back of the shell is barely strong enough to support the weight of the aluminum panel I installed there. To rectify this, I plan to replace it with a 2" stainless steel piano hinge that I purchased from mcmaster.com. That will make the aluminum window much more secure against theft since right now, a person could fairly easily pry the entire door off. You might be able to use the same sort of hinge for what you're thinking of doing.

The plastic store I purchased it from cut it to the precise shape I needed to fit into my frame. I had to pay extra for that service of course, but it was definitely worth the money for the time it saved me.
