at least i've learned something. will never buy an acer anymore. i mean, this ist just crazy. i've got an aspire v3, actually a good laptop, but i just dont have the time and the energy to disassemble the whole computer to clean the fucking fan. and now, after not even a year of usage, it gets so hot when playing games that it is no fun anymore...

Thank you, this gets me 3/4 of the information I need to work on my laptop now I just have to figure out the power jack because I think that is the issue. Already replaced screen, keyboard, changed one HDD to SSD, then it won't charge or boot. Power jack is loose so must have come loose, I hope it is a replaceable part and not soldered in place. Gotta search more videos.

Habe zusätzlich die Wärmeleitpaste erneuert. Einfach geil. Trotz Video wusste ich nicht welche Schraube wohin gehörte. Eine Nahaufnahme wäre nicht schlecht gewesen.Deswegen merkt euch genau welche Schraube wohin gehört .

That really did not take as long as i expected, though during the removal of ribbon cables I dislodged every black plastic locking tab! Good lord!! I will never do that bit of stupidity again :-) I just wanted to tell you that even though I did not find a huge wad of cat hair or dust blocking the heat exchanger, the fan blades needed cleaning. It runs so much cooler right away - well worth the time! Went from near max temp of 70deg C while doing very easy tasking to ~40. Proof right there this is a worthwhile endeavour!!!! It originally was sold with Win XP Pro perhaps for most buyers. I have it running Win7 64 Ultimate and some very up to date 3D design software as well. Yes it is maxed out occasionally and expressly why we want a clean flow of heat away from CPU

Great video, I'm kinda lost on 1 thing though, when I go to put all the screws back in my v3 771g, there are 3 or 4 smaller/shorter screws and I need to know where they go. I think I may have put some long screws where the short/smaller screws should go. I have a hardware issue that comes up now and then that I never had before. I think I'm shorting something out with the long screw in a hole that should have a shorter screw in it. Please help if you can. All I need is the short screw locations and I should be good to go. Thanks in advance :)

Does the keyboard have some safety feature for water damage? My computer got a cup of coffe over it and they just changed the Keyboard and said it would be OK. Could I trust that it is? Or should I consider getting a new computer? (don't want a computer that crashes any time soon)

I just tried to replace the keyboard and did everything as shown. The after reassembly the Laptop turned on normally multiple times (didn't have a boot drive in it though). Then it didn't boot anymore. I made some changes with the keyboard and put everything back together. Then it turned on one time. Now it's dead. Power button seems to work though and I reconnected the ribbon cable multiple times. I tried with and without battery always connected to the power cord. Can S.O help me? Maybe there is a safety screw or something I have to put in? Why did it work in the beginning and a second time but now it's dead?

the HDD-2 is actually bay 0 with SATA III, and the HDD-1 is bay 1 with SATA II, so whoever puts in a SSD do it in bay 0.

quick question,I have an aspire v3 as well and my touchpad doesn't seem to work after I'd disassembled it to clean my fan. I checked the connector multiple times to see if it was damaged or if it was upside down. none of these two were the case. Do you have any ideas what it might be?

danke! gerade nach der anleitung gereinigt und omas teppich rausgeholt ^^ cpu läuft jetzt auf max 45° anstatt 75° im leerlauf. ohne das video wär ich aufgeschmissen gewesen. wie soll man auch drauf kommen, dass man das motherboard komplett ausbauen muss um den lüfter zu reinigen? scheinbar will acer gar nicht, dass man mal säubert. hab übrigens noch irgendwelchen plastikmüll im gehäuse gefunden, der definitiv nicht zum pc gehört...

Heya did this to clean my fan everything worked and all my fan is quite but my screen is black when I turn it on it still does things like open my CD drive. I was wondering if u could tell me the source of the problem were I might have messed up

other tip never use screw drivers to remove cables if you slip you can scratch the board and mess it up badly or kill it
