Applied a second layer to my touch-up by mixing in about 10 percent water in a separate container. It made the coat look seamless with the rest of the wall. Thanks for the tip!

I am needing to touch up some of my rooms as well. How did mixing the water with the paint help you?

I did the repair and touch up, but used the wrong shade (darker) to match. What now? Can I just paint over the colour or do I need to prime the area first, or do I have to prime and paint the whole wall?

I am experimenting with touch up methods for a wall I airless sprayed a week ago with a 5-15 HEA tip with my Titan 440 impact, no back rolling. Dark color blue using SW duration interior flat. The airless sprayed finish looked beautiful. Experimented with different smooth rollers (wooster pro/doo-z ftp 5mm, wooster micro plush 5/16, and purdy parrot 1/4) as I wanted to find a roller that mimics the sprayed finish as best as possible for future touch-ups. Applied paint with candidate rollers in 2'×2' sections for each roller with and without feathering the edge. Also, once dried applied a smaller 1'x1' square within the previous 2'×2' square to see how each roller touches up itself. You know what, after all the dinging around and experimenting, I found that the original airless spray finish looks the best, no rolling. A few hours after drying the touch-ups stand out and do not match for color, texture or sheen. The rolled 1'×1' touchups within the previous rolled 2'x2' touchup blend better than the rolled 2'x2' on the original airless sprayed wall, but they are still noticeable. Is touching up dark wall colors an unachievable mission? I give up, would love to know if the consensus is to mask off the wall and respray? For those interested in the rollers, the wooster pro/doo-z 5mm felt the best when rolling, meaning it laid paint on consistant with a smooth feel. They all were similar in texture, not quite as silky as the airless. I would have to say the wooster microplush matched the texture of the airless a hair closer than the others. Would love to know if anyone else has some advice on things to try but I am basically giving up on touchups and will just mask and respray going forward.

is it really necessary to apply spackling to such a large area when the damage is only 1/8"? Its like a square foot of spackle and a square foot of primer
@ryano39594 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. But I guess it's up to you on how perfect you want the finished product. You can do what he said and take an hour in a half or more to put 3 coats of spackle for perfection. But on a spot like that I say it's not worth it. One solid coat of spackle and call it a day

How can you touch up without feathering the edges when you painted with the roller? No cool.
