Thanks. I'm having a similar problem right now, won't open from the outside, but then won't easily close anymore once opened. It's always nice to see there's a video out there, if only so I have some idea what to expect. Now I know I need a regular and a torx screwdriver.

Nice one Abdul you just solved a problem for me. Many thanks for making the video. Would be awesome if you had somebody to hold the camera and film each step. I couldn't quite see how you attached the wire . I will try figure it out.

sorry i was alone and at the end of broken wire/cable i just use a nut bolt. i put the cable in between nut and bolt

Hi I have a smart forfour 2007 1.3 does anyone know how I can get the boot to open again I think the solenoid or sensor is gone. Any advice thank you?

I had the same issue, for me it was the handle which was stuck with bo spring back effect due to the plastics being dry and brittle, had to open and stuff some flexible piece of plastic to push it back. Hope it os not too late for you
