Smart 453 Stop Start Defeat Device
Hi, and thanks again for watching.
If you have a Smart Fortwo or ForFour no doubt you will have been frustrated by the fact you can not permanently turn off the “stop start” feature.. every time you get in you have to press that button, if you forget… and you pull up to a roundabout.. boy does it get annoying and some say dangerous causing the vehicle to hesitate.
Today I have completed a video showing you how to install a Stop Start defeat device. A simple 6 minute install with no special tools required. The device was bought from Ali Express and cost £15.83p including taxes and delivery to the UK.

The description images do have some instructions, they say you need to follow to “enable” the device but I didn’t have to do that at all.. as you will have seen on the video. It worked for me .. I hope you ge the same success.

Thanks for this video. I have looked at other start top devices for the 453 but requires splicing an electronic chip into the wiring of the stop start disable button and also coding was an other option, but have no-one close by to code it out. This device looks so easy with plug and play, so ordered one up and will connect it soon. Just fed up with that stop start rubbish. Cheers Col.

Some people have reported that you have to follow the instructions that come with the device. Mine was just plug it in and it worked but the instructions are turn it off. Turn it on. Wait 30 seconds. Press and hold the button and things like that but it seems to be very reliable and very simple good luck, my friend.

My stop and start is on the central forward of the key. 2013 smart is anything I can get to turn it off altogether

Great video. I have a 451. I see that you've replied to a previous commenter that the same defeater can be bought from the same outlet. Any possibility of doing a video to permanently de-activate the ECO on the 451 ?

Arghhh so sorry. I no longer have a 451 but, the link on the site shows a how to video. I believe it’s just as plug and play also.

If you are in the UK, use a 5pence piece. Push the StartStop button and wedge a 5p in to stop it re-activating

Follow the Ali express link and see the 451 product. They post a video how to install and the sequence to activate the defeat device.

Europe only? I have a 2009 451 my car doesn't have this here in the USA.

This is a 453. Some of the 451 are called MHD Micro Hybrid Drives. These have stop start and you can get the same defeat devices from this same company too.

Our Smart FourTwo passion is showing this as a fault and engine management light coming on too, would this device cure / defeat that ?

Have you checked there is no device in there at present.?

@@smarte.r.1450 No device in there. Apparently the camshaft sensor is showing a fault, many other faults in these cars can show as stop/start issues too. For some weird reason. Batteries in particular. Saw your vid, thought install that device and one less issue to worry about.

@@Rob290755 BATTERIES are the NUMBER ONE issue if u have “many fault codes” a good quality battery that is AGM solving soo many issues
