You just saved me so much stress, headaches and aggravation. I was getting cylinder 2 & cylinder 4 misfire. Haven't had the truck long, but figured the coils were bad with the truck having 140k on it. I replaced all 8 and drove for a short while and felt the hesitation come back. Check engine light began blinking and the engine power was down to where my a/c quit and power steering was cutting out. I got 3 of these clips that broke as yours did. I pushed them back on as best I could and figured it would be ok, but obviously not. Thankfully I found this video and plan to hit the junk yard on my way home today. There is a few of these in the yard there. Hopefully I can find some that are still decent enough. No way was I going to cut and splice, but figured I would have to replace the whole harness and or take it to the shop. I am so relieved that I can fix this myself. I am good with cars and almost always repair things myself, but I do not like messing with electrical because things are so finicky. Thanks again. I feel so lucky to have found a video that was the exact problem and solution in 1 short video.

I wasn't sure what the chances were of finding a video that showed how to repair these connectors without splicing them, but sure enough there happened to be this one. I just had to replace some and bought them from Amazon for a set of 8. I’ve always done a lot of soldering though and so had planned to do them that way. Especially considering someone that had the truck before me had used a butt connector to fix one of the wires in one plug. I didn’t even really think of trying to take the pins out which I’m surprised I didn’t and wish I had. Granted if good at soldering that’ll work also, just make sure to cover solder joint with heat shrink . Nice video though. Thanks I’ll keep this in mind for SURE the next time!

@@hernan6ez936 basically you take the old connector off and put the new one on. No splicing needed. It’s a little tricky. I went to a pick and pull and found old/used ones and they worked out great. Get a couple extra just in case though. One I picked was brittle

Great video, just what I needed. Added note: I found out today why the aftermarket ones I originally ordered would not fit. My 2007 Ford has 2008 connectors. Having a hard time at the junkyard so I bought a couple from AutoZone: duralast part number 851. It was the actual part I was looking for worked great, but almost $22 each. Looking around for the rest as they are not as urgent. Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 1F1Z14489AA, 3U2Z14S411SLA, 3U2Z14S411SLB, 4F2Z14489BB, 851, F42Z14489BB

My first one I broke was an aftermarket connector. After that I figured out how to re-pin. The aftermarket one eventually needed replaced, after about a year I would get a misfire that would buckle the truck on acceleration. Scan guage pointed to that cylinder. Instead of re-pinning I re-wired since the pins are different. Hopefully you have better luck. I have an 08, any 5.4 from the yard should work. f-150's, expeditions, econolines, lincoln's, ect.
