Saved me money. thank you. Little debbie wrapper had been run over. Lodged itself in place just inside the hose behind the roller on the bottom successfully managing to completely block the airflow. Please remember to unplug the vacuum!!!

That's ironic, I actually knew about the other filter. I didn't know about the front exhaust filter. This video was very helpful.

I did everything i saw you do ....changed the belt...but as soon as i turned it on it started to smoke...belt is broke once again....dont know what I did wrong

You'll find plenty of them in thrift stores too, often only needing maintenance.

Thanks for the video, I recently came across one of these that someone had thrown out. Now I know how to check the belt and filters . I know it runs and it picks up but it has a terrible smell so maybe cleaning the filters will fix that.

Great vid. I've got almost that exact model and the belt is fine but it's still not sucking properly. Can't find the clog in any of the places you suggested looking. What am I missing? Arrrrrrg.

Can you please help me? I bought a Multicyclone vacum model 89Q9 brought it with abroad, the motor burnt and I send it ti rewire since we don't have Bissel here I disconnected all wires but forgot to mark them, so now I don't remember where the blue, brown and wires go. i rinsed the foam filter and accidentally washed the circular paper filter as well and now whenever i turn it on there is a funky smell that comes out? any idea?? im thinking maybe i didnt wash the circular foam well enough . (everything still works fine tho)

That's a common issue that I have heard about the Bissell. When that happens, it's time to replace that filters with new ones.

At 2;45, you show the foam sleeve filter as washable, but what about the pleated one it fits over?

other videos show that it is also washable. I haven't tried it yet but several dot com vacuum companies advised to wash it out with warm soapy water.

Don’t wash the pleated filter! Blow it out with a air compressor or the output of a shop vac! I made that mistake with my bosses work vac and it never was the same again. Hell that one died and was replaced less than a year later. I have the same vac purchased a week later and 5 years down the road it still works fine. I’m having a issue with the vac bypass being way to sensitive and killing my suction. Looking for a fix before I go ahead and replace my vac.

It is easy: Take the vacuum apart by taking screws off untill you get to the switch.Don’t panic put everything back the same way. Separate the screws as you go so you will know where they go. Part number is on the part google model and part number and walla. Take your time ,get away if you need to.Hope this helps.😃

There might be hair and debris caught between the end caps and the brushroll. Also, the bearings in the brushroll might be going dry and seizing up. Remove the brushroll and try cleaning it out and spraying in a little bit of penetrating oil, working the end caps by hand until they free up. Depending on the model, you might be able to remove the end caps by turning one to the left while holding on to the other, then slide out the whole shaft and clean everything up. If not successful, replacement brushrolls can be found on eBay fairly cheap. But before doing anything, make sure the belt is not broken nor so stretched or glazed that it can't transfer power from the motor to the brushroll.
