Having grown up with a background in salvage, it's often our first inclination to save something rather than scrap it. Whether that's always the most cost efficient methodology is debatable! Sometimes an intricate repair job can be a great learning experience and can teach you more about the properties of metal than just simply building a new thing!
This week Tay sets out to finish fixing this hand rail that was run over by a delivery driver and install it back where it belongs! He'll also discuss more on why he chose to repair this specific project and how that affects his quotes and time investments.
Have you ever had to give up on a difficult repair and just replace it? Let us know in the comments below!
Thanks for watching!

Great work. You proboly know but you can use propane with your torch, it all hooks up the same especially if your only using a rose bud. Love your stuff!!

Structural steel ironwork sometimes needs to be heated after welding to bring it back straight. I worked for a structural steel fabricator for 5 years. I also worked for a farm repair shop and we straightened a lot of stuff with a torch. The trick is to not over do it cause it won't pull back as the metal cools. We cool ? AL B.

Great work and video I’ve been looking forward to seeing how it turns out. And definitely much rather see something repaired and reconditioned rather than seeing it thrown away. Great job as always can’t wait till the next 👍👍

Love the idea of reusing/restoring rather than trashing whenever possible.

Professional job, young man! You spoke about charging only $400 for the work. I think you are seriously undervaluing your knowledge, experience, skill and plain-ass hard work. I know you are still building your business, but at some point you should probably charge a bit more. You are worth it

Almost, i am from the Nederlands 😉 I Was also close on the bid. Interesting on the tax, for labour or a new product would be the same 21% tax where I live. Businesses can deduct that however .

Invest in a very basic powder coating solution. This railing originally was powdercoated and your spray paint isn't going to last anywhere near as long.

No tax on your labour charges, your customers are lucky. Here in the UK our customers are stung for 20% on all labour charges, as well as on all goods used.

It's not indistinguishable from the original. It looks better. Now they need to hire you to weld the anchoring plates for the other one.

Regardless of cost, I would think the truck driver that backed into it and caused the damage would be liable to repair it.
