The Ultimate Paint Protection: DIY Ceramic Coating for Beginners
Preparation is the key to success when it comes to ceramic coating, so I've got you covered with a comprehensive list of essential preparation steps:
1) Thoroughly wash your car: Start by giving your car a meticulous wash using your choice of car wash soap and a microfiber wash mitt to remove dirt, grime, and loose contaminants.
2) Iron decontamination: Use an iron decontamination product to dissolve and remove embedded iron particles from the paint surface. This step helps eliminate iron-related contaminants that are not visible to the naked eye.
3) Clay bar treatment: Perform a clay bar treatment to remove any remaining contaminants, such as tree sap, tar, or industrial fallout. This process ensures a smooth and clean surface for optimal bonding of the ceramic coating.
4) Polishing or paint correction: If your car has any swirl marks, light scratches, or imperfections, consider performing a paint correction process before applying the ceramic coating. This involves using a dual-action polisher and appropriate compounds or polishes to restore the paint's clarity and smoothness.
5) Surface decontamination: Use a dedicated surface prep product or isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual oils, waxes, or polishing residues. This step ensures a pristine surface that promotes strong adhesion of the ceramic coating.
6)Applying the ceramic coating: Follow the instructions provided with your chosen ceramic coating product, ensuring to apply it in a well-ventilated area and using proper safety precautions.

I use the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions ceramic spray. 3 coats lasts a year. It's easier than washing your windows, just about as quick.

Good overview of the process! Consider wearing a respirator when applying those coatings, the chemicals are no joke. For a daily driver I prefer a sealant like Blackfire, which is hydrophobic for 2-3 months. I've ceramic coated a vehicle before but to me it wasn't worth the 8 hours of prep and 3 hours of application and cleanup time. I used the AvalonKing coating, and it was great for 12 months, and not any better than sealant beyond that point. I can wash and quickly seal a car every three months (which I do even if ceramic coated) and be done in 2 hours so the extra work wasn't worth it for me.

I have applied this coating a lot to dozens of vehicles it’s a great coating every 6 months it needs a good water spot remover it helps to break down all water based deposits that the number 1 issue with coating. Ignore iron remover water spot remover also remove iron. This is 1 of two of my favorite coating. Good job adams and b and b blending!!!

I like how you described the process of cleaning the paint. When you used the graph to illustrate the process, it made much more sense to me, then someone just saying don't buff to much, now I know why and how to go about it. Thanks.

I experienced when you polish a new car with a fine finishing polish and foam pad, it makes the paint surface feel even more smooth and silky. Never noticed any negative side effects. ty

I love your channel, the amount of prep work you have to do for most of these products is way more than I'm ever willing to do. The first company to come out with a mediocre ceramic coating where all you have to do is spray it all over the car and rinse it off will make big $$$.

Thank you for the video and down to earth recommendations. Easy to understand processes as well. Since I have no garage, I will have to stick with Wipe on products like Lithium seal and squeal, etc. But this I really enjoyed seeing the process!

Before clay bar, put a plastic bag on your hand (like a zip loc) and then lightly rub across the paint. For some reason it makes it much easier to feel contaminants. Then you can better judge how much clay bar is needed as you go around the car.

I have an '02 Excursion in solid Red, no fancy fender trim crap. used a local Car Wash near my son's home out of my state; that puts on a spray wax, they offer Ceramic, but the cost is more than I want to pay.... used that car wash every day for 3 weeks before I left that area and drove back home..... the difference in appearance was great.... at 80 years young now, I don't think I have the endurance to manually apply a Clay Bar and go over the entire vehicle.

The thing about applying a ceramic coating is, you have to have a lot of light all over that vehicle to be able to see that you're buffing it all out. I have a really big garage but unfortunately there is not near enough light, nor is there any water drain. I do everything outdoors, but I don't want to apply a ceramic coating outside. Even in the shade, I don't feel like there's enough light to really see what I'm doing. Hopefully I can get some lighting installed at some point to do this right. Great Video!

there are very hot cities and very cold cities, look for how to help these people with tips for day to day, also how people can save gasoline by driving better, finally help the customer when he takes his car to the workshop and they tell him what he should change the damaged parts, you can help with advice so that people save money, if the mechanic or workshop is being honest. This is a very help

I'm assuming you're talking about iron remover. I've used a few of them. Without using 3 or 4 side by side I doubt you'd see much difference. They all seem about the same to me. I'd be willing to bet the marketing budget for most of these companies is much larger than their R&D budget. 😂 don't get me started lol.

Im picking up a brand new car this weekend (less than 100 mi). So basically it should just need a good two bucket wash and then ceramic coating. On my 2016 with 74k I should probably do all the steps.

How can you say that a new car doesn't have iron fallout. When that car is built it sits at a factory for months before being shipped, then it gets on a rail car and travels from point A to point B to point C enormous amount of iron contamination. Then however long it sits in a major city dealership. Bad bad advice
@RepairGeek

Every sentence you just said is an IF statement. IF it's sat for months, IF it travels by train, IF it sits one the dealer lot. Yes it's possible, so is getting hit by lightning. I can't say I've seen a brand new car in worse shape than a 5 year old daily driver. Road salt/cinders are hell on paint.
