I make my living repairing, restoring and refinishing old and unique furniture, and am pleasantly surprised to see you use many of the same techniques and products as I do. I've been doing this work for thirty years or better and find it heart warming to see someone as young and as capable as yourself carrying this profession on in a traditional style. Seat of your pants retro engineering, and some good old fashion ingenuity is what it takes to do what we do. And I will put a plug in for Mohawk products as I see you use them. Their touch up products are top notch. I've even picked up a couple of tricks watching your videos. I'm almost 70 and still learning. It's what keeps us young. You have a good knack for color matching, and I know that comes from lots of trial, and lots of error. Been there done that. Keep it up, I'll be watching.

You my dear sir, are my kin. Many trades and DIY people who watch me don’t fully understand how these restoration shops function on a multitude of skills and a ton of flying by the seat of our pants. Every single job we do is different, there are similar processes but never the same project. I am so happy to have a fellow restorer join me here. Cheers friend! 🍻

I, too, am an old dog woodworker doing everything from new custom furniture to repairing antiques and newer pieces. Hardly ever the same thing twice. I would be very appreciative if you would state how many hours your restoration or repair took to complete. Do you bid or charge hourly? What is your hourly rate$?

Very nice repair! I've repaired some chairs with similar issues over the years and I've got to say that you made it look much easier than I remember doing them. For me the issue wasn't so much the color matching and blending because those depend on the final appearance that's been decided on. My issue was always the realignment of the broken parts and dealing with the previous failed repairs that someone else made that caused them to bring the piece to me. It looks like you drilled that dowel hole by eye and that was awesome. My dowel drilling jigs looked like a twiddlely wink set on steroids, many many steroids. Can't wait for the next vid.

I've commented before expressing my admiration for your approach and skill using Mohawk toners to blend and even out colors on your project repairs. Thank you for demonstrating some of your techniques and specific products for doing this. As a furniture repairmanman and restorer myself, I have learned some very useful things from you by watching your work. Your video editing skills are the best for learning on all of KZfaq. A suggestion for a future video would be detailed use of toners, color matching and how you choose from the many colors of toners available. Thanks again.

Beautiful repair job! I broke a leg off a very old desk today. I will keep this video to guide me through the repair if I decide to fix it myself. The roll top was missing when I bought it, and it had several layers of ugly dark green and black paint on it, so has very little value, but I painted it gray and white and love the way it turned out. Thanks for explaining the process!

I have used a long piece of steel rod instead of a wood dowel rod and drill the holes but deeper into the leg on each end. Took a small grinder with a thin cutter wheel a cut a groove in each side of the steel rod and cut a few little places cross ways for the epoxy to lock it into the holes in the wood leg pieces . Because I figured that the steel wood be much stronger and longer each way inside the wooden leg . She did do a good job lining and matching everything back up . I have put steel inside of wood pieces just to give them strength several times, not repairing, just building something to make it stronger .

Ok... fess up... there was magic used at some point (LOL!) Just amazing repair work on one of the trickiest sections of a turned leg. What I really appreciate is her narration while applying glue, filler, stain and finishes. There's a reason each product is used in each measure and you get a feel how the grain and nature of the wood guides her. Love it!

You are such a master furniture repairer, restorer and an antique life saver to so many people. I am a disabled veteran here in Corpus Christi, Texas. I do not get out a lot with the covid pandemic going on, and I just want you to know how much I enjoy watching and listening to you talking about new furniture that has come into the shop. What your clients have asked you to do with their pieces, how you plan on step by step what is needed to achieve a good result. And I really enjoy when you show the finished furniture when you are completely when it is ready to be shipped back to the client (so beautiful). By the name of your shop and the explanation you gave on your tour, you must have loved your father very much. You are honoring him through your work. I can't help but think he must have loved every minute of having his little girl in the shop with him any time he could.
