You can also cover the cap and wires with a couple wraps of electrical tape to make sure you've got a good connection, but still a good tip to make sure the light's lit.

Good Video always replace the original splice with the (wire nuts) or (butt splices) also tape your splices I know that the original one was not but that is a good rule of thumb if one was to come loose it reduces your chances for a short and electrical issues! Great video though thanks for sharing!

+Travis Knight Thanks so much for that info. I have another electrical thing to fix, so I'll be sure to use your advice.

Thanks for your comment. That was done a few months earlier, but not by me. One of the lenses cracked, thus it killed the bulb, so I had to repair. While up there, I decided to take off all the lenses, clean them & recaulk.

The thing to do for the best electrical flow would have been to disconnect from the light blue connectors and redo the connections there. Now you have two points that disturb the electrical flow and also create more possibilities for shorts and possible disconnects from shaking etc. But good video.

Thanks, If I ever have to do this again, I now know to do that.

Oh yes, do that for sure. It's better to be safe than sorry later.

Use a plastic putty knife to scrape off old sealant then caulk it

I changed all the bulbs for my clearance lights-but only 3 were out-now None of them works-any suggestions on what I did wrong?

Well that's a bummer. I wonder if one of your main wires went out? That happened to me with a tail light last year. I had to take it to a mechanic & they actually went in under my kitchen cabinets (rear kitchen) to locate the wires. 3 hours later, they got it all fixed back up again. Do you think maybe one of the connections just came loose?

Get a volt meter and see check your wiring and see which wires has 12 volts. You might have disconnected a wire without you knowing it. These light sometimes run in series just like Christmas lights. If one light does not work, all lights might not work. Check your fuse box also to see if there is 12 volts there.

Great video, thanks. I just got a new to me rv and need to waterproof it. What calking material did you use and where did you get the clearance lights? I'm missing some and don't have original manual - and the company is our of business.

You might be able to get the lens covers at an auto parts store. The ones for my RV however, I have to get from an RV store. Get the white RV caulk. I am going to redo all my caulking when the weather cools a little. I used clear silicone & it separates. So I had to redo the light covers. I need to do them one more time using the white RV caulk. I am also going to take my back clearance lights off & reseal under with rubber butyl tape. The front ones were redone about a year ago. I think this is the white caulk I am thinking of: www.adventurerv.net/proflex-flexible-sealant-bright-white-p-3238.html No need to remove the old caulk with it from what I've heard.

You can buy Cemco roof caulking from Amazon.com great stuff to seal your roof
You're welcome. 15x's huh? Good luck & have fun! The reward is when you finish & they all work :-)

The only thing I would have done different is replace the butyl tape that seals the light to the camper.

That cover that you call are actually called lenses.

Yes. You are right. I never can think of the correct names of things when I need to!

This should be a what not to do. Never use those light blue connectors. They create more problems than they solve. Don’t get me started on the wire nuts....smh. Not scraping all the old sealant and applying new, really? Also, led sealed units are all of $5 each.

Thanks. I'll be sure to do that if/when I redo the lights.

Best bet is to totally replace those incandescent lamps with a sealed LED like this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qtGKkpBqldDddps.html
