Last fall in my checks on the John Deere 7000 planter I found that the row units were lose and needed the bushings replaced. This video will show some of what all is involved in the process. I speed up the video or this would have been a very long video. Hope you enjoy

That's a nice planter. A 7200 went for I believe $4700 at the auction.

I bought it 3 years ago at the same auction that was held this weekend. I paid $2800 for it. It needed a new liquid fertilizer pump but that was about it that was big money repair. I know I got a good deal.

I used longer bolts with a shoulder that would go through bushing and mounting angle then cut off extra threads.

Great video. I have a JD 7240 that has the same bushings setup. At least know what all to expect now if I have to change them. Appreciate you posting this. Good luck this spring.

TAH-DAH Farm Thank you very much. Definitely appreciated. I’m just excited that I’ll have more of a chance coming up to be working on equipment and then getting out on the fields. In the meantime, I really like watching all you guys’ channels because it keeps me updated and I learn a lot of new things. Since I live 90 minutes away from the land I farm, I joke that I live vicariously through everyone’s videos (well, and I get my Mom to take pictures during the growing season) to help me get through the week and into the weekend when I can do crop stuff again. Thanks again.

This is my 4th year and I am having fun. My grandparents both were on farms and I always wanted to farm but until now it was not in the cards. So now I'm enjoying my dream.

TAH-DAH Farm That’s really cool to hear. It’s just something/a feeling that is hard to explain to people, but there’s not much more rewarding things than farming. And for me especially, it just helps me stay close to my Dad, which I can never explain what that has meant.

It is so cool when your out with the combine and you can say I did this. I also understand the dad part. It reminds me of both my grandpas and my dad whose health is not very good but getting better.

I replace that bolt with a longer bolt so bushing is riding on shoulder of bolt. You can cut off extra bolt threads if you want and are ocd like me.

I need to replace those bushings in my planter also! And replace one of those no-till down pressure springs!

It wasn't that bad of a job. And from Shoup, it was about $50 a row. There is a place not far from me that sells a repair kit for the 7000 and it makes it the same as the 7200. That was about $60 a row. If / when I change over to no till, I will get the kit from Shoup.

Need to go through the seed meters, grease it, and I got a new monitor for in the tractor. I need to make sure that it is working with the old monitor pick ups and wire. It is set for 32000 spa so that should do it. Thanks.

I replaced all those bushings on mine the first or second year I owned it. Probably should recheck them to make sure they’re still good.

I should have done this last year but I didn't have that much corn to plant. This will be the 3rd year that I have had this and was surprised that they were that bad. When I looked at it, I checked it and they all seemed to be ok. I did find that the worst ones the bolts were lose. It sure did make a difference and it is tight now.

I'm sorry I thought I was subscribed a long time ago. But I am now! That's a sharp-looking 7000! If you're interested I would make a heck of an offer I have the V set vacuum kit from my 7000 with both corn soybean plates. Also I bet I could pick out six good quick change tail Wheels assemblies from Shoup.
@TAHDAHFarm
@TAHDAHFarm 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'd have to think about the vacuum thingies. I'm not sure how they would work. But I would be interested in the adjustable rear wheels. That is something that is on the list to upgrade.
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 5 жыл бұрын
@@TAHDAHFarm I'll go get them tails off here this week and make sure that they're in good shape around the bushings. For the vacuum you need a closed Center Hydraulics or pressure compensating hydraulics like a John Deere 4020 or newer type tractor or even some late model 1086 had the pfc. If your planter tractor is an open Center system then you can't use it. That I know of
@TAHDAHFarm
@TAHDAHFarm 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I was checking my trackers out for the hydraulics. They are all open center so that will not work. I am interested in changing out the back closing wheels.

U plant with the Kubota ?
@TAHDAHFarm
@TAHDAHFarm 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I use the Kubota M-7060. It pulls the John Deere 7000 corn planter with ease. The front wheel assist is also a nice add and it turns much shorter. It also pulls the John Deere 8300 drill with the unverferth culti-planter well also. I was looking for a bigger tractor and that's why I bought the IH 1086 for tillage and would like to get a no-till drill, and that will require more horses power. Thanks for watching.

Would you ever consider no till
@TAHDAHFarm
@TAHDAHFarm 5 жыл бұрын
There might be someone in the area that do no till for everything. Although it is about 50 50 minimum till and conveniently till around here. I am looking for a no till drill to plant wheat in soybean stubble. That is the reason I was looking for a bigger tractor and bought the IH 1086 is to pull a no till drill. It seems like every 3 to 5 years everyone around here is doing some kind of deep tillage because of the soil we have. As far as the corn planter, I have looked into converting it into no till just want to do the drill 1st.
