I love watching your videos your amazing. I’m an electrical contractor and the only thing I would add is to check for power on the switch first before touching it to make sure power is off so none of your viewers get hurt. Or you I would hate to see that. 😎

The black electrical tape is because the switch is in a grounded metal box. So you tape the switch so that the screws don't accidentally touch the side of the box and arc or trip the breaker. Some jurisdictions require it in metal boxes. It isn't required in plastic boxes.

AWESOME VIDEO!! I really feel confident that I can do this myself now 😁 Question: Is it the same concept if you need to replace an outlet plug in the same room??

Melissa Martinez you can do it! Yes it is pretty much the same concept the main thing even after throwing the breaker whether it is an outlet or a switch, just make sure and test to be certain there is no electricity still running to the outlet before you get started, but if it is a GFCI outlet just make sure and replace it with a GFCI outlet, GFCI outlets will have test buttons on them usually located next to the sink or in the bathroom…you got this! 😉
