I have done this before. I added some stain to a small amount of the plastic wood and put a smear of it on the word. Let it dry and if it needs more stain, add a little and do it again. When you get the correct amount of stain then go ahead and fill your hole and sand away all the other stuff. 3:27

What about corners? I picked up some metal reinforced drywall corner tape. Have you used this on wood paneling before? I would prefer clean edges. Really dont like trim everywhere.

Would applying primer before painting create a smooth surface for painting
@WhatTheFoxSherriFox2 ай бұрын
I don’t know if it would create a smooth surface, I am sure you would still have to sand… but it may help before painting yes

When dealing with a 1/4 inch screw hole in a wall I’m thinking a combo of matchsticks, toothpicks, wood glue and wood filler in the deepest portion, jam it all in there as deep as possible, and then a wood dowel covered in both glue and wood filler shoved in last and hammered in to be flush with the wall, then one last scrapped layer of wood glue and filler. Let it dry, and bing bang boom my stripped wood hole is ready for me to fuck it up again with too much torque

Mine looked great at first but a couple of days later hairline cracks began to appear where some of the panels join each other. I’ll try sanding those areas and reapplying mud but I hope this won’t be an issue that keeps happening. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@@WhatTheFoxSherriFox Thanks but I had just bought it the previous day. Since then I make a small groove in the cracks and then refilled. Two months now and no cracks yet. By the way, I had noticed the cracks occurred when two adjacent panels met.

Nope, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it back in the tube. Because you've squeezed the tip and mixed it some, it will start to harden if you just shove back in and close the cap.

What is your recommendation if some specks of the foam roller get stuck in the paint? Can I simply sand it down or do I need to do another full application?
@WhatTheFoxSherriFox5 ай бұрын
It should not be coming off unless you have rolled over an area too much. If you get it in the paint and it’s still wet I would take it off with my finger and roll over it with wet paint. If it dries in it, you will have to wait until it’s completely cured sand it and paint again, it is a very tedious process any imperfections you need to fix you need to let it completely cure before fixing
@susanslone4645 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the fast reply!! He used multiple rollers but it still pulled little bits out. My contractor applied it yesterday and I went in to peek today and saw the specks. We used the bathworks brand , it’s the type to mix before using. Any other suggestions before we do the next round ?

Also I just found your video when searching for a “fix” for the problem but I’m so glad I came across it!! I appreciate you!
@WhatTheFoxSherriFox5 ай бұрын
@susanslone464 don’t go over the same area as much, just hit it and move on even if it doesn’t look so good you’re gonna be putting multiple coats, but this could be what’s causing the foam roller to leave small specs behind because that paint is extremely sticky, you can’t just go over and over and over the same area, don’t try to coat the entire thing with one to two coats because you need to put multiple coats on
@WhatTheFoxSherriFox5 ай бұрын
@susanslone464 you are welcome, I hope it helps, and good luck! I am sure it will be fabulous!💞

I spent three day days going all the way around a large family room prepping for paint. 1 lap sanding the paneling, then 1 coat primer, then three laps around the room spackling the paneling lines, letting the spackling dry for 24 hours in between each application, sanding in between every coat, 3 times around the room. Then it took another three days priming the walls over those spackling coats, and spot spackling where need in between paint coats to cover visible lines, right over the primer paint. Finally satisfied with the prep work after two weeks, it was time for color, a dark teal. The dark teal paint went on well, but it became evident two coats was going to be needed to cover the white primer. Satisfied with the coverage, after a couple of days we started seeing lines beginning to reappear. Apparently the spackling shrank and was only covered in spots where the spackling was applied very heavily... The moral of this story; just do it right in the first place and take the paneling down and put up drywall. We didn't save a thing by being cheap. The room looks,...OK,....I won't be redoing it, but just be aware, no matter what you do, no matter how many weeks of un-ending tedious prep work you do, those lines are never going to completely disappear. It is wooden paneling. Wood reacts to humidity changes, by expanding and contracting. Perhaps if we used quick dry mud instead of spackle the coverage would have been better, but its still wood paneling. It's still going to react to humidity changes.

@WhatTheFoxSherriFox5 ай бұрын
Oh no that’s not good, was there tension on your blind? 🤷♀️
@alnascar975 ай бұрын
@@WhatTheFoxSherriFox no there are 2 style of blinds. One style is open close for the slats the style I have also has a retract feature that always has tension on the cords. When cut they either must be held or only cut one and retie one side at at time. Took 3 hours to fish the string back through the reel and all the slats.

Found this on Rustoleum web site under questions about their clear coat product. What do you think. Thanks for the video. Q:Can this be used on the solar panel of a solar post cap to waterproof it and protect from UV damage?? Nov 18, 2023 A: Thank you for reaching out, Phil. While Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Clear Coat provides a weather resistant clear coating to metal or plastic surfaces, we do not recommend applying directly to the solar panel. This can hinder the performance of both the clear coat and the solar panel. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14
