Chad, thanks so much for posting this video. I have the same model, year and color (!) of X3 as yours and have spent many hours attempting to figure out how to replace the expansion and thermostat (which crumbled into pieces when I attempted to remove tank). Your video is the only useful information regarding replacement that I've been able to find. Going to try again tomorrow to finish job, now that you've shown how it's done. Thanks for your video. I have to replace my whole tank and oil cooler mount because did not know which direction the sensor went back in. All the other videos put it in wrong direction i followed their instructions and broke the plastic. Best video thanks

Thumbs up. next time 4 bolts removes front cover where bonnet opens closes, 4 more remove air in center front, pull towards firewall, up and out. 1 bolt and 1 push pin and 2 connectors remove fan if electric, air filter box is pushed onto out of gromets and 1 connector and one sensor takes about 10 minutes. Tools T-30 torx and flat head screw driver semi sharp. you'll have much more room and can check for other leaks. Never change expansion tank without thermostat on automatic transmissions you'll probably do the job twice.
