After over a year of thinking my daughter lost my Galaxy Note 8.0, I "found" it underneath the carpet, on the floor in the family car..Needless to say it was dirty, dusty and not charged..After replacing both the battery and the charging port receptacle..Voila! new tablet..Lookin toward to more DIY repair vidz...😀

Worked perfectly. Changed battery initially. New battery was fully charged, but it wouldn't recharge. Following your tutorial, I changed the charging port. My tablet is now charging. Thank you very much for your tutorial.

The most common problem with Charging on these devices, once you have eliminated the Power adapter and Charge lead, is dust or dirt contamination inside the USB receptacle.You can remove any dust with a source of compressed air, you shouldn't poke anything inside it or use brushed as they can damage the contacts by bending or pulling them.A good tool to use or keep handy is a Camera lens / sensor Dust Blower, they can be bought really cheaply from Photography shops, and will generally provide enough concentrated air pressure to blow any lodged dust out.If your item still wont charge after replacement of the USB it could be the Battery itself or the battery management hardware, which may not be located on the USB receptacle module you replaced.Search the internet for diagnostics software for your model, there may be error codes or diagnostic software which can indicate the area of the fault!Beware, the moment you open your device you are at risk of causing Electrostatic Discharge, the same way you sometimes get a shock touching a door handle of your car. That discharge is many thousands of times greater than the tiny operating voltages of components in mobile devices.The discharges of a few tens of volts are enough to damage your device. You wouldn't even feel the discharge yourself but the damage is already done!Open at your own risk. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Just a few points if this can help someone. I changed the usb port easily thanks to the video, but the tablet was still not charging after the replacement. I then noticed that if I hold the power button on as it was charging the tablet would charge. If I released power button it stopped charging. I added some scotch tape to hold power button in on position for approximately 10 minutes and it charged enough to start a normal charging cycle. The tablet now charges to 100% and works as it should. Thanks for the video

Thank you so much! Ordered exactly what you said and did exactly what u said and now my N5100 tablet is charging and connecting to my computer via micro usb. I used a butter knife to gently take mine apart and found the whole process took about 8 minutes and my tablet was back in action thanks again!

(Not a Native English Speaker) HELP, so I am in this weird situation. I have tested different chargers, both generic and originals but my GN8 still won't charge. The thing is, when i plug a OTG cable with a usb in it, this one is recognized immediately. Any idea on what's going on or should I keep trying with other charges? Good Video.

I did what you did, except I couldn't pop out the metal thing on the right-hand side so I bent it back a little. After replacing the charging port and putting the screws back into place, now my tablet won't turn on. I didn't drop the thing while I was handling it. Help please?

I had the exact problem. Replaced with the new port exactly, and the screen shows the battery attempting to charge. It powered on, then immediately back off. Now nothing. Help!

I managed to replace the USB charging port of my GT-N5100. But now it will charge very slowly and it cannot connect to my PC. Any idea why is this happening?
