Looks awesome, a shame Ryobi doesn't sell it as a kit with the bigger 7.5Ah batteries. 4 6Ah would be great, but 4 7.5's would be outstanding., And right now the kit with the 4 6Ah batteries costs less than just 4 6Ah batteries on it's own. Buying the tool only and buying 4 batteries winds up being over twice as much $$$. Great video, I think I going to poke around and see if a 7.5Ah kit is hidden somewhere.

I really wanted to buy one of these, but there just isn't the value preposition unless you are neck deep in spare 40v Ryobi batteries. The EcoFlow DELTA with 1260Wh regularly goes on sale for $800. This Ryobi power station costs $700 for the tool only version or $900 with two 6Ah batteries included at my local Home Depot, and then I'd have to find (or buy) the remaining 6AH batteries just to get to the 864Wh you calculated. I think I'll stick with the one that costs less, has greater capacity, and has more features.

My neighbor was so proud of himself for selling his gas generator and buying one of these. Then the blizzard came and I sold him my spare generator. 😂

Great video! Very comprehensive and answered all the questions anyone should have. I've had a Canadian Tire Power Box since 2021 which is lead acid and plugged 24/7 all these years and it still works like a top. Use it for lights during power outages and we all know lights are the most important during an outage but it also boosts a dead battery up to 650 cranking amps up to 30 boosts on a single charge and I've done it. Lithium ion and new tech make this even better and lighter. Every home should have one or more .... Cheers from Nova Scotia

I bought one for the rare power outages we get so o can run my kids noise machine and my CPAP machine. And I can finally join the lighted Xmas Parade this year.

This is a very interesting tool. If you have the batteries already, the math changes, and it could potentially take over the solar power generator market. This iteration of the tool, does not quite provide all the features and options that are needed, but the national distribution and ability to easily replace batteries, make for some interesting potential. I have a large number of Rybobi 18 volt tools and batteries and got the small brother of this unit that runs on one 18 volt battery. In a power out situation, it can handle lots of the little loads. (internet router, LED lights, TV ect) with multiple batteries. Allowing one to utilize existing batteries in another situation has benefits. These solar power generators are generally meant to run the small loads, at full capacity, running a Gas powered generator is going to make more sense for longer times. However, if you are a trades person and you need something simple intermittently at a job site. (like a soldering iron, microwave or air compressor) this can fit the bill. I expect the next version will turn this into a fast charger, and provide solar inputs, so it can fully compete in the off grid market. At full loads, this device only has 30 minutes of power, but most people will run this for tiny loads, CPAP machines, fish tank air pumps, and coffee makers. Potentially, this could power an air compressor, cut down on job site noise, (no noisy generator running), and can handle all the standard corded power tools needed in a remodel. Lots of people still have corded tools that are used intermittently.

Thanks for the video - it's the things like 1800W for 3min vs 1600W continuous that have caused me to start reading the available electronic manuals before I buy the tools. A person can find some interesting things that may make them reconsider buying the item from time to time. Read that eco flow solar generator can be charged at the ev charging station. Least one type. That would be the main aim if it was added other than solar or main home electrical options.

I love the ryobi 40 volt lawn mower and I'm on my 5th year now. One battery finally died and that's acceptable. The cost to power here is not at all acceptable. Get an ecoflow because this had no features. You can solar charge it. No pass through power. Crazy expensive for way outdated features. Get a little suitcase generator for 500 bucks that can really put out 1800 watts all day for a gallon of gas. Fantastic video with great math explanations of how it works!!! Gotta question: I noticed that the power station doesn't have any ports to plug in solar panels. I was wondering if it would be possible to charge the batteries using solar panels plugged directly into a separate inverter? The theory is that you don't need batteries to run the inverter, and as long as I'm only using the inverter to power the battery charger during the day, I should be able to use the power station in the same way I would use a backup generator at night. Crazy? Maybe not. Have you seen the price of a PowerWall or one of those solar generators? This would be a lot cheaper. Plus, with the separate solar panels and inverter, I could power my essentials forever! Or at least until something breaks.

any ac output, modified or pure sine wave can charge phones/laptops or anything with a battery. "Sensitive electronics" are things like tvs, desktop computers, stereo equipment or anything that has lots of electronics bits and dont run off internal battery.

How much the cost of Ryobi 40V 1800W Power Station?

So if I want to use this station to power small 12V devices, does that mean I have less watt-hours, and therefore less runtime with 12V devices? I.e. 12v * 6Ah = 72 watt-hours.

Been looking at this for camping. Maybe just running 3 fans at night. 2 basic box fans and my ryobi hybrid air canon. Witch all that less then 300w. My question how long can I run this for under those power condition with 4 6ah batteries. I got the 18v inverter that came out this year. So I’d charge cell phones off that. But. The fans at night. Usually like camping for 3 nights. So 24h worth of charge for the fans. Can or can it come close to doing that

Also note for few people who don't care about how much money to toss. Ryobi also has a 3x battery pack system that has a normal 40volt battery slot cable attachment. So if you're wanting up to 5.7kw of power. Pairing soon to get Ryobi's 12ah 40volt batteries in each of their 3x power packs, Then putting 4x of those into the 1800watt power inverter, You'll not only get to Charge and use, But also have 5.7k+ power housed in the unit. And since you can also 'Pair' this with another 1800w power station. That brings it up to 11.5kw of power storage.

Honda 2200 watt generator $900 runs on a gallon of gas for 10-12 hours average gas price right now $5.00. I've owned one for 13 years still works like new. Lithium batteries alone won't last nowhere near that long.

I had it on my save for later list, but now I don't think I like it. I bought a whole box of closet lights and rechargeable aaa batteries. Our power went out for 2 1/2 days last year and none of our food spoiled but we did not use a generator. Thank you for the great tutorial. I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I can see I don't want this. I love Ryobi and have their pole saw, reciprocating saw, fogger, weed eater, and leaf blower. I plant to buy their scroll saw I think and some other stuff. My boyfriend is getting me a 6 pack for my Birthday, too. I do all the repairs the best I can and let him do the more exciting stuff. I don't want this anymore, though. I thought generators could light a few lights, the fridge, the freezer, his tv. Our laptops. I don't like math. I especially don't like this math. I struggle to understand why someone would sell out $1000 for a power station that might get you an hour of use out of it (unless you're running fans or LED lights with it). The batteries alone are quite expensive and once they are depleated, you're out of power for almost 24 hours while you charge them back up.

The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

It looks like a great unit for some light duty stuff, but if you plan to run anything with heavy power usage, you will run the unit down very fast. Perhaps too fast. Especially with no pass-through charging. For the cost of that thing, you could buy a dam good gas generator.
