The bigger rocks definitely made a difference in that area, great idea. The other area you worked on looks like a horse shoe shape. I love it!

Good work. I have used large stones to edge some of my beds. I do bury them in the soil about a fourth of their height so they stay in place and tend to look a little more natural. 😮Just from experience, keep in mind what it will be like to walk on the one inch gravel over by the bench. Pea stone is more comfortable to walk on. Also, I have used the one inch as mulch in perennial beds in the past and leaves and dirt gets trapped between the rocks and causes a great medium for weeds. It is easier to rake leaves and pull weeds from pea stone. Keep on with the good gardening.

I love your style of gardening! Maybe you could sand down and stain that bench and get a little more life out of it until you are ready to replace the wood slats. A nice dark stain would stand out so good against the rocks! Lovely job Jes!

Hello Jes, what beautiful ideas you come up with for your gardens. As I always say I love what you do in your gardens ♥️ and you're right if we didn't have winters we wouldn't appreciate the spring and summer as much. Fall is my favorite season. I guess because of all the colors and smells. Lol Then Spring I truly do love watching everything Resurrect from the cold hard winter. Watching everything come back to life. Blooms on trees burst open flowers start to pop up. Oh how I love it. ❤️ and that's the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior just a glorious time of year. 😊❤ God's blessings Jes, and thank you for singing to us love that about your videos also😊 you are so precious and so dear. A blessing to me 😊❤ have a wonderful blessed day 😊❤ ❤🇺🇲🌻🍃🍂🪴🌿🌳🇺🇲🌾🇺🇲

Hi Jes, Long no time watching your vids. I do that with my garden, use big rocks. I prefer them over normal edging material. they make the garden more fairytale. woodland garden. I also had many annuals that self seed. My Snapdragons self seed. I also had those fall plants like Celosia self seed. Which I love self seeding annuals. Even my mums come back. It will save money in the long run.

Oh my you sure have been collecting rock. I know where there’s a rock pile near me that I would love to go and get some rock. I’m not sure if I need to ask the farmer but it looks like it’s piled on public property. I keep eyeing that pile and I’m am soooo tempted to go and help myself. The thing is the farmer has a lot of land in the area and I think if he wanted to sell them he would put them on his property. 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃

A Petoskey stone is a rock and a fossil, often pebble-shaped, that is composed of a fossilized rugose coral, Hexagonaria percarinata.[1] Such stones were formed as a result of glaciation, in which sheets of ice plucked stones from the bedrock, grinding off their rough edges and depositing them in the northwestern (and some in the northeastern) portion of Michigan's lower peninsula. In those same areas of Michigan, complete fossilized coral colony heads can be found in the source rocks for the Petoskey stones.

Hi Jes. Don’t you think the pea gravel is easier to walk on in that area? If you redo the bench and use it as a seating area, I would leave the pea gravel. The larger stones look great emphasizing that front bed. Just a thought.
